This role in a nutshell:

We are looking for an experienced Product Design Manager with a passion for leading and inspiring teams and stakeholders to help OVO’s customers, the planet and business. As a key member of the UX Leadership team you will help build and maintain an inclusive and creative work environment for a team of designers to drive customer and business growth.

Your key outcomes will be:

  • Provide strategic leadership to the product design team, fostering a collaborative and creative work environment.
  • Mentor and develop designers, promoting skill growth and career advancement to equip them with the right skills and behaviors to lead teams through growth and change
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, partnering with the Head of Product and Head of Engineering to ensure alignment with overall business goals
  • Develop and execute a growth-centric design strategy that aligns with the company's growth objectives.
  • Drive an app-first design approach elevating quality, craft and creative flair
  • Integrate data-driven insights into the design process to optimise user acquisition, retention, and overall user engagement.
  • Drive user-centered design processes, from concept to delivery, ensuring a seamless and delightful user experience.
  • Collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to define product goals and ensure successful product launches.
  • Communicate design decisions effectively and advocate for user experience excellence
  • Establish and maintain design standards to ensure consistency and quality across all products, conducting design reviews to provide constructive feedback ensuring high-quality deliverables.
  • Partner with other members of the UX Leadership team to build an inclusive creative culture and drive cross-team initiatives.

Within your first 3 months month you’ll:

  • Have settled in, gotten to know your team and key stakeholders with a solid grounding in our strategy and business goals
  • Formulate a growth-centric design strategy centred around our App, presenting to key stakeholders, gaining alignment and feedback.
  • Unite your team and define ways of working, rituals and cadences.
  • Strengthen collaboration with product managers, engineers, and other departments, establishing clear lines of communication to ensure seamless integration of design strategies into cross-functional projects.
  • Partner with other members of the UX Leadership team to drive cross-team initiatives.

You’ll be a successful Product Design Manager at OVO if you…

  • Have a case studies demonstrating your experience leading teams designing apps for both iOS and Android
  • A product thinker - you care about why you’re designing something and what impact it will have for the customer and business.
  • Are a brilliant communicator - you can explain and rationalise the reasons for your team’s design decisions connecting customer needs and business strategy.
  • Love presenting to diverse audiences including C-level executives.
  • Are fluent in mobile best practices and know when to reuse existing patterns versus going custom. And importantly, you know chips, toasts, and snack bars are more than just tasty treats.
  • Laser-focussed on the details, whilst having a birds eye view of how everything connects

We’ll pay you between £85k and £105k, depending on your specific skills and experience. If your expectations are a little different, have a chat with us!

You’ll be eligible for an on-target bonus of 15%. We have one OVO bonus plan that focuses on the collective performance of our people to deliver our Plan Zero goal.
