The Opportunity:This experienced Product Designer role is an exciting opportunity for someone ready to jump into a dynamic team that's re-imagining the future of email across desktop, mobile, and web platforms. As part of our Design team, you’ll work cross functionally alongside designers, front-end engineers, and open-source contributors to shape user experiences that are intuitive, accessible, and visually impactful.
We’re looking for a Product Designer with a strong focus on user research, interaction design, and prototyping, who thrives on turning complex challenges into elegant solutions. This role will be responsible for crafting and refining user flows, wireframes, and interfaces that meet user needs while aligning with our evolving brand identity.
We’re committed to creating an amazing experience for our users, and you’ll play a key part in this effort. You will be working with our existing staff and community members from all over the globe to support the mission and objectives of MZLA Technologies Corp and the Thunderbird Project.
This is a remote, full time position. We require strong written communication skills to facilitate effective work coordination across various virtual communication platforms such as email and video conferencing.
What you’ll do:- Create and refine flow diagrams, journey maps, wireframes, user flows, storyboards, and interactive prototypes to guide and test product design.
- Deliver visually appealing, accessible interfaces that align with user needs, brand guidelines.
- Conduct various types of UX research, prepare and facilitate usability studies, and analyze results to inform design decisions.
- Identify and articulate challenges, extract insights, and suggest solutions. Collaborate on complex issues and adapt to changing business needs.
- Develop and implement designs using HTML, CSS and JavaScript, ensuring seamless integration and functionality across platforms.
- Apply knowledge of design systems and prototyping tools, ensuring consistency and efficiency in workflows.
- Develop a strong understanding of content strategy, information architecture, and interaction design to enhance user experiences.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in design, human-computer interaction, computer science, or a related field.
- Advanced coursework, certifications, or professional training in UI/UX design, interaction design, or related areas.
- 3+ years of professional experience in UI/UX design or a related role, demonstrating increasing responsibility.
- Proven track record of creating effective wireframes, prototypes, and visual designs for diverse projects.
- A portfolio showcasing intermediate-level design work, including examples of problem-solving and design impact.
- Experience conducting user research, usability testing, and applying findings to improve designs.
- Previous work on multi-platform projects (web, mobile, desktop) and contributing to scalable design systems.
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), documentation skills, and the ability to work with a multi-disciplinary, geographically distributed team.
- Deep respect for the different skills and perspectives that people of varied technical and non-technical backgrounds bring to a team.
- Proven ability to independently complete projects on time and with high quality.
- Strong understanding of HTML, CSS, and basic JavaScript for front-end development.
- Experience in UX writing to create clear, engaging user interfaces.
- Familiarity with Agile and Lean Startup methodologies for efficient product development.
- Previous experience contributing to open-source projects or engaging with open-source communities.
We benchmark our base salaries to local markets and target the 60th percentile of the peer market. The salary ranges for this role are:
- Canada: $70,000 - $83,000 CAD
- US: $70,000 - $85,000 USD
