Our latest offshoot is SBK, an app that aims to provide the best casual betting experience. We launched it in 2019 and are now looking to scale it up. The SBK mission is simple, but not simplistic: Rewriting the Sportsbook. We are searching for an experienced Senior Product Designer who will report into the Director of Product in our London HQ. Join our team and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our betting trading technology landscape.

What you’ll be responsible for

  • Leading design efforts across our two consumer-facing products (the Smarkets Exchange and the SBK app). This includes driving the future design vision of these products, but also delivering creative visual assets, static and motion design that brings our brand to life.
  • Gathering design references, creating moodboards, sketches, storyboard and anything else needed to bring ideas to life.
  • Developing strong customer empathy by participating in user research sessions, consuming existing data and insights, and conducting your own lightweight research and analysis. Your goal will be to understand the "what", "why", and "how" of the problems we are addressing, ensuring that we not only ship features effectively but also prioritise the right features.
  • Leading all design artefacts produced; from initial discovery and user journey mapping through to the execution of final UI design details.
  • Actively collaborating with your cross-functional peers using strong communication, documentation and facilitation skills. You’ll work closely with PMs, engineers, researchers, data analysts, and marketing peers to make sure you aren't just shipping great designs, but that your stakeholders are looped in throughout the design process.
  • Implementing and championing refined, user-friendly, and inclusive user experiences. Your practical mindset will allow you to find the right balance between the optimal user experience and necessary compromises based on technical limitations, experimentation strategy, or business risk.
  • Raising the design bar at Smarkets. You'll work with the leadership team to upgrade the look and feel of our brands and apps and ensure product strategy, business goals and user experience are all in alignment and that there are healthy opportunities for visibility and feedback.

About You

  • You possess great agency, and willing to pursue the effort of turning good enough into great.
  • You possess great creativity, artistic sense and your work often has the X factor.
  • You have a deep sense of curiosity, and question everything.
  • You’ve led the design of world-class products in a fast-growing company before.
  • You’re familiar with web as well as native mobile design patterns on Android and iOS and have designed great apps for both platforms + web.
  • You have great attention to detail, and great UX copywriting skills. The copy in your screens contributes to overall product experience.
  • You make well-reasoned design decisions always advocating for the best possible user experience.
  • You know your way around design tools. We predominantly use Figma, but familiarity with the Adobe Creative Cloud apps would be a nice to have.
