About the Role

We are looking for a Product Developer to support the seamless transition of recipes from concept to commercial production as we grow the product footprint of our newest brand, Factor: a healthy, ready-to-heat meal delivery service.

This Food Manufacturing expert will work on the Commercialization team, acting as a bridge between product development and kitchen operations. You will observe, document, triage, and rapidly resolve production challenges while developing long-term solutions to improve quality, efficiency, and yield. You’ll play a critical role in the fast, iterative launch of new Factor meals on a weekly basis, using both your expertise and data-informed insights to guide decisions and improvements.

In addition to collaborating with Production, Product, Procurement, and Menu Planning teams, you’ll document cook process requirements, identify opportunities for improvement, and continuously optimize new and existing recipes. This is a process-oriented, high-impact culinary role where observation, action, and iteration drive success.

What you will be doing:

Drive rapid iteration and process improvement

  • Observe production and scaling processes, document challenges, and triage immediate issues.
  • Develop and implement long-term treatment plans to improve efficiency, yield, and product quality.
  • Operate in a fast-paced, iterative environment, testing solutions, refining processes, and continuously improving outcomes.

Scale and optimize recipes for production

  • Own and manage the scale-ups of new recipes, ensuring quality standards are met before large-scale production runs.
  • Optimize R&D recipes for enhanced efficiency, quality, and consistency at production scale.
  • Lead weekly ingredient organization, equipment planning, execution, plating, and sensory testing on scale-up samples.

Support quality and operational excellence

  • Test and validate written methods and processes, aligning with operational realities.
  • Collaborate closely with Culinary, R&D, FSQA, and Kitchen Operations teams to solve issues and implement improvements.
  • Use data-driven insights to guide decisions and refine processes, while maintaining agility and speed.

Collaborate with co-manufacturing partners

  • Observe and align co-manufacturing processes with Factor standards.
  • Ensure scalability and consistency across facilities, using both observation and data to inform decisions.

Operational and equipment optimization

  • Identify areas for improvement and lead initiatives to enhance production capabilities and performance.
  • Conduct equipment capacity studies and recommend new equipment where necessary.
  • Run follow-up yield tests and address inconsistencies using data-informed decision-making.
  • All other duties, as assigned.

At a minimum, you have:

  • Degree or diploma in culinary arts, culinary science, or a similar field.
  • 2+ years of experience in corporate food R&D, food manufacturing, or large-scale restaurant/banquet/catering operations.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of juggling multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong process-driven mindset with a passion for developing and refining scalable systems.
  • Comfortable operating under ambiguity, solving problems autonomously, and iterating rapidly.
  • Entrepreneurial, ownership-oriented, and collaborative, with a focus on driving measurable impact.
  • Naturally curious and innovative, constantly seeking ways to improve processes and outcomes.
  • Customer-centric, understanding how decisions influence both internal and external stakeholders.

What you’ll get in return:

  • Competitive salary and health benefits
  • 75% discount on HelloFresh or Chefs Plate weekly box subscription
  • High impact work to help feed thousands of families in Canada
  • Opportunity to learn and grow
  • Work with a hard-working and supportive team
