Product Engineer
We’re in an unbelievably exciting area of tech and are fundamentally reshaping the data storage industry. Here, you lead with innovative thinking, grow along with us, and join the smartest team in the industry.
This type of work—work that changes the world—is what the tech industry was founded on. So, if you're ready to seize the endless opportunities and leave your mark, come join us.
THE ROLE
You'll be a key leader on the Operations Engineering team, managing the product quality of Pure Storage hardware from New Product Introduction (NPI) through sustaining production. This pivotal role drives manufacturing excellence and ensures the highest quality standards across our supply chain. You'll work cross-functionally with Hardware, Test, Quality, and Supply Chain partners to support Pure Storage's ambitious growth trajectory.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Own the end-to-end product quality lifecycle, managing metrics and driving continuous improvements from PCBA subassembly manufacturing, to system integration, and through to field performance.
- Lead Design for Excellence (DFx) activities—including cost, quality, manufacturing, and reliability—to ensure a zero-defect design is released into high-volume production.
- Coordinate comprehensive failure analyses with global suppliers, implementing swift root cause analysis and corrective actions to resolve quality issues and prevent recurrence.
- Serve as the technical operations lead for a Pure hardware product, developing process documentation, establishing manufacturing quality standards, and providing manufacturing input during schematic and design reviews.
- Drive key process improvements within manufacturing operations to enhance efficiency, consistency, and cost avoidance, directly impacting customer satisfaction and business margins.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Deep expertise in production quality management systems and methodologies, including PCB/Assembly/System/Test processes, failure analysis, and product lifecycle management (PLM) tools like Agile.
- Proven success in collaborating with global, cross-functional teams (Engineering, Supply Chain, Test, Quality, and Contract Manufacturers) to uphold and elevate the highest product quality standards.
- Advanced ability to apply critical thinking to complex manufacturing challenges, prioritize competing demands, and simplify ambiguous situations into clear, actionable plans.
- Exceptional communication skills—both written and oral—with the ability to clearly articulate technical concepts and quality metrics to diverse audiences, from production line operators to executive leadership.
- A strong, solution-oriented drive with demonstrated ability to influence partners, remove blockers, and achieve significant results in a fast-paced, high-growth hardware environment.
We are primarily an in-office environment and therefore, you will be expected to work from the Santa Clara office in compliance with Pure’s policies, unless you are on PTO, or work travel, or other approved leave.
