Production Editor
HelloFresh is in search of an organized and detail-oriented Production Editor to join our growing Editorial Team. The ideal candidate should have excellent organizational, grammar, recipe editing, food writing, proofreading, and technical data-entry skills. We are a fast-moving team with a focus on producing precise, engaging, educational content.
The Production Editor, reporting to the Senior Production Editor, is responsible for a broad range of tasks and responsibilities, which typically span multiple positions within the editorial structure of a more traditional publication team. This role is continuously collaborating with the culinary team, nutrition team, photo team, product operations team, menu planning team, project management team, as well as our team of editors, proofreaders, and production designers to produce over 100 recipe cards and meal stories every week across our HelloFresh, EveryPlate, Green Chef, and Factor brands.
The ideal candidate should have an understanding of project management, with the ability to meet tight deadlines while also maintaining great flexibility when necessary. You enjoy collaborating with co-workers across multiple departments, and know how to facilitate a constant stream of communication. You will…- Partner with the Editorial team to produce over 100 recipe cards every week and contribute editorial web support across our HelloFresh, EveryPlate, Green Chef, and Factor brands. This includes:
- Overseeing our recipe database and menu indexing documents to ensure editors are pulling information from one accurate source of truth across the brand portfolio
- Collecting and consolidating feedback from internal business partners and acting as a liaison between the Editorial, Menu Planning, and Project Management teams
- Acting as a point of contact for recipe and menu changes
- Executing sweeping recipe and menu changes as needed
- Implementing all brand partnership marketing info requests on recipe cards
- Implementing ingredient SKU changes into recipe docs as needed
- Overseeing funneling reprints of recipe cards as needed
- Primary backup for several editorial content checkpoints, ensuring clarity, consistency, and accuracy among recipes. This may include taking on:
- Formatting recipe documents to ensure they’re compatible with DocsFlow
- Completing a style edit to ensure a consistent voice and style throughout every recipe
- Fact-checking instructions for accuracy
- Reviewing recipe titles, descriptions, ingredient names, and instructions to ensure they align with brand-specific tone and style guidelines
- Updating recipe information in editorial tools and documents due to change requests
- Incorporating recipe adjustments from Culinary, Operations, and Brand Partnerships teams with the speed and agility to evaluate the impact of late-stage changes and communicate such changes to stakeholders as needed
- Overseeing photography assets to include communicating the team on:
- Researching and repurposing photography from our image database (DAM)
- Preparing photo collections for weekly briefs to the photo team
- Collaborates with Editors to assess and approve photo reshoots
- Photo briefing for emergency reshoots
- Work collaboratively with Project Management to create process efficiencies
- Help to maintain our Editorial database (Confluence) of helpful documents and SOPs, style guides and training documents
- Set deadlines across all projects and tasks
- Ensure quality control of recipe cards, to include photography, ingredients, steps, and requested changes are accounted for
- Contribute to editorial efforts on specialty projects
- Assist with onboarding and training of new team members
- 3-5 years experience in project management and content management and creation–an administrative or associate-level role in food media and/or meal kit companies is a plus and a culinary degree is an added bonus
- A Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, or a Communications-related field
- Deep understanding of creative and production processes
- A passion for the culinary world
- An impeccable eye for detail and nuance
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Google Docs and project management software (we use Jira)
- Knowledge in copy editing, proofreading, AP style, and ensuring adherence to style guides
- Comfort in assessing photography for culinary accuracy
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Efficiency at synthesizing complex information into easy-to-understand bullet points
- Superb organizational skills with the ability to juggle multiple projects, workstreams, and timelines simultaneously
