About the RoleCommon is growing rapidly and expanding into multiple new cities. We are looking for ambitious, self-motivated individuals to help our mission of turning housing into a consumer-focused industry. You will play a key role in delivering accurate, timely financial reporting to our internal and external business partners. This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of a fast-paced, high energy company.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee the daily operations of a team of property accountants and third party consultants; conduct performance reviews in accordance with Habyt policies; PTO approvals and coordination of PTO coverage
  • Ensure all properties’ monthly financial statements are delivered on-time (20th of each month)
  • Ensure the unique terms of each management agreement are appropriately reflected in the financial reporting
  • Collaborate with other departments to optimize procedures and align on responsibilities
  • Formalize standardized procedures (SOP) for Property Accountant and Team Lead roles
  • Review and sign off on completed reporting packages, supporting work papers, reconciliations, etc.
  • Assist with the distribution of reporting and follow-up questions from property owners, if needed
  • Other ad hoc projects from time to time

Qualifications

  • BS in Accounting
  • Accounting experience within residential property management
  • Extremely proficient in Microsoft Excel, Netsuite and Entrata experience a plus
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, thrive in a fast-paced environment, manage time, and prioritize multiple tasks and projects to meet deadlines
  • Self-sufficient and comfortable taking charge in a start-up environment
  • Detail-oriented & willing to spend time sorting through any problem that arises
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Has a comprehensive knowledge of GAAP
  • Emotional Intelligence
  • A team player with a “can-do” attitude
