Our Opportunity:

Chewy is looking for a Compounding Quality Area Manager to join our team to serve as a critical member of the quality department. This role will work closely with site level pharmacy leadership including the formulations and quality departments, the compounding pharmacy team, the head compounding pharmacist, and the pharmacist-in-charge, as well as cross-functionally with other pharmacy teams.   

What You’ll Do:

  • Serve as a critical member of the compounding pharmacy quality department and lead quality team direct reports
  • Perform or assist with deviations, investigations, and corrective and preventive actions
  • Monitor environmental monitoring of the compounding pharmacy including HVAC and sanitary conditions
  • Manage equipment certification and functioning including all applicable startup and routine certifications/calibrations, cleanliness, and planned and unplanned maintenance
  • Track and coach quality opportunities for the compounding pharmacy team and drive continuous improvement through routine observations and training program reviews
  • Exercise appropriate change control oversight and coordinate change control verifications
  • Execute an audit program that encompasses all critical documentation and data and drive resolutions for identified areas of opportunity
  • Author or review standard operating procedures
  • Other duties as assigned based on business need

What You’ll Need:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Registered in good standing with the KY BOP as a Pharmacy Tech
  • Attention to detail and technical/analytical skills including use of Excel or ability to learn these skills
  • Background in quality assurance or quality control in a regulated environment

Physical Requirements:

  • Must have visual acuity, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 lbs
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time
  • Must be able to wear PPE for long periods of time when required including ability to wear tight-fitting respirators
  • Compounding team members may be exposed to hazardous chemicals used in the preparation of compounds (some are classified as hazardous and/or toxic by the National Institute for Safety and Health and special safety precautions must be taken when working with these chemicals)
  • This position will require periods of sitting, standing, squatting, kneeling, reaching and walking
  • Must be able to use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls

Desired Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific/technical discipline preferred
  • 1-5 Years Compounding Experience
  • Knowledge of principles, theories and laws, policies and procedures that pertain to compounding- specifically USP <795>, <800>, other USP general chapters, and best compounding practices
