Deliveroo HOP
Deliveroo HOP launched in September 2021 and is Deliveroo’s speedy grocery delivery service. Our mission is to deliver groceries to customers around the world in as little as 10 minutes - from the weekly shop, to a last minute dinner party or a late night snack. Working with trusted grocers, Deliveroo Hop promises to bring customers the very best products at lightning speed.
The team behind Deliveroo HOP are building a network of stores across London, the UK and International markets. Each delivery store is staffed with a team who have been specially trained to manage the operations efficiently as well as pick and pack orders in record time, with Deliveroo’s 100,000 strong rider network completing all deliveries.

The Role
The role of the Regional Manager is to drive the highest performance possible within their respective region of sites. This includes maximising customer satisfaction, optimising productivity, achieving site personnel costs, maintaining strong stock accuracy, tightly controlling inventory and minimising all wastage. The Regional Manager role is the flagbearer for operations within the market and plays a critical role in driving the business forward. This individual must be comfortable working strategically to enhance the operating model, deliver operational excellence and support the business’ strategic objectives. The Regional Manager is responsible for creating a positive, collaborative and cooperative work environment for all colleagues.
What You’ll be Doing
- Plan your work week most effectively splitting time between strategic and tactical site operations. You will be required to create your own work plan, effectively balancing time on site with HQ / Home Working (whilst ensuring compliance to company work expectations (e.g. weekend working, late night working, time spent on site).
- Lead through your respective teams, working closely with your Area Manager team, to achieve all company objectives and goals. This will require an ability to lead effectively at a distance whilst also remaining willing and able to get stuck in!
- Deliver impactful site visits with a view to supervising and delivering operational excellence across your respective region. Be fair, consistent and clear in your expectations leaving SMART outcomes and next steps.
- Lead in accordance with the Deliveroo values and ensure your team follows suit. Act as a People Manager for all our staff colleagues and support them throughout their organisational life cycle. This includes the requirement to manage HR/ER cases.
- Recruit and onboard Area Managers where appropriate.
- Develop, train and motivate all employees to achieve ambitious targets
- Demonstrate operational excellence by meeting KPI targets across your region whilst constantly seeking to improve. You will set the drumbeat for operational excellence driving delivery of KPIs and metrics.
- Supervise compliance to company standard operating procedures (SOPs) through robust supervision, impactful coaching and inspirational leadership.
- Drive strong standards within your region, adhering to merchandising and space management principles in addition to delivering a clean, tidy, organised site environment.
- Be responsible for ensuring compliance with all Health & Safety and Due Diligence measures in your region. Supervise that all product recalls and withdrawals are actioned as per company guidelines.
- Carry out regular Health & Safety checks, including completion of requisite internal audits to monitor compliance to standards.
- Host and participate in relevant meetings including Weekly / Monthly Business Reviews. Be a strong commercial operator with the ability to set and deliver challenging targets, invert underperformance and embody balanced leadership between coaching and challenging.
- Liaise with your various counterparts across the business to improve overall operational performance. Be astute in stakeholder management, building a strong professional network and escalating/communicating upwardly effectively when required.
- Lead large, complex projects, initiatives and activities with the ability to enhance the operating model and deliver company objectives and goals.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3-4 years of grocery experience with area / regional management experience working across multiple locations/geographies.
- Strong capability and track record for project management
- Demonstrable track record of managing and influencing the P&L to deliver sustainable operations. Able to translate P+L interpretations into tangible, effective action to drive forward profitability.
- Strong cross-functional technical acumen with knowledge of wider business functions (e.g. supply chain, vendor management, product, property).
- Possess a commercial acumen with an ability to identify opportunities to grow Order Volume & Gross Merchandise Value (GMV)
- Able to read, interpret and impact KPI performance with an ability to balance performance requirements in addition to process and operational opportunities.
- Great knowledge of food safety and health and safety compliance requirements
- Can demonstrate excellent communication skills, both verbally and written. Has a strong aptitude for influencing others as well as stakeholder management. Comfortable interacting with senior stakeholders.
- Highly organised individual with exceptional attention to detail who can apply project management skills to tackle various challenges
- Tech-savvy and comfortable working with numbers and using data to inform your decisions (experience with Looker preferred)
- ‘Can do, never give up’ attitude and the desire to grow and succeed with one of the world's fastest-growing food-tech companies
- Right to work in the UK
- Willingness to travel between multiple locations across the respective region, including overnight stays.
- Willing to comply with company working expectations (e.g. occasional weekend and late night working)
- Valid UK Driving Licence preferred
