We are currently seeking a Regulatory Manager to join our established Quality Assurance team. This position will own regulatory compliance for Chewy’s Private Brands hard goods product portfolio, ensuring compliance and shaping proactive policies that support innovation, supplier integrity, and market growth. This role ensures full alignment with applicable domestic and international safety, labeling, packaging, and chemical regulations, including those enforced by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), California Prop 65, CPSIA, ASTM, TSCA, REACH, and others. This role may also support regulatory initiatives in consumables and healthcare categories as required by business needs.

This is an individual contributor role with high visibility across functions and influence on product safety, regulatory risk mitigation, and quality assurance within an innovative retail environment. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead regulatory compliance efforts for Chewy’s Private Brands hard goods portfolio, including hard lines (toys, collars, crates), soft lines (apparel, beds), and electronics (auto feeders, smart pet tech)
  • Ensure adherence to CPSC, ASTM, CPSIA, Prop 65, TSCA, REACH, RoHS, and other applicable domestic and international product safety regulations
  • Support chemical and mechanical safety testing, risk assessments, and product evaluations in coordination with third-party labs
  • Support cost optimization through risk-based testing programs and harmonized regulatory reviews across global markets
  • Review and approve product packaging, labeling, warnings, safety instructions, and material disclosures to ensure full compliance with federal, state and international regulations
  • Own and maintain accurate, audit-ready documentation related to product testing, regulatory certifications, and compliance reviews to support internal approvals, external audits, and market access requirements
  • Support product incident investigations and corrective actions related to compliance, including recall readiness and response planning
  • Lead social audit compliance activities by managing third-party audit providers, driving issue resolution in collaboration with Legal, Quality, and Sourcing, and ensuring supplier adherence to Chewy’s ethical sourcing standards through corrective action oversight and continuous improvement
  • Monitor emerging regulations, standards updates, and policy changes to proactively address risk and drive internal compliance updates
  • Help develop and refine standard operating procedures and digital tools that enhance transparency and compliance efficiency
  • Provide regulatory mentorship to Product Development, Quality, Sourcing, and Legal teams throughout the product lifecycle
  • Serve as a compliance consultant during concept review, design validation, packaging development, and supplier onboarding.
  • Build and deliver internal training programs to raise awareness of applicable regulatory requirements
  • Manage relationships with accredited third-party testing labs and monitor testing timelines and results
  • Represent Regulatory in forums and lead initiatives that shape Private Brands compliance strategy

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Regulatory Affairs, Engineering, Chemistry, Product Safety, or a related technical field
  • 5+ years of regulatory compliance experience in consumer products, hard goods, or related industries
  • Ability to interpret and apply complex U.S. and international regulatory standards, including CPSC, ASTM, CPSIA, Prop 65, REACH, TSCA, and RoHS, across product categories and regions
  • Experience managing audits, recalls, and crisis management scenarios
  • Experience contributing to policy development or regulatory advocacy
  • Self-starter with a high degree of accountability and attention to detail.

The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate’s relevant experience, education, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for 401k and a new hire and annual equity grant.

Exempt salary team members have unlimited PTO, subject to manager approval. Team members will receive six paid holidays per year. Team members may be eligible for paid sick and family leave in compliance with applicable state and local regulations. 

Base Salary Range$87,000—$130,000 USD
