Full Time
Düsseldorf, Germany

Mintel, the world’s leading market intelligence agency, is looking for a consumer-focused research analyst in Health and Wellbeing to join its German Reports team in our Düsseldorf office.

Our expert analysts help a wide range of businesses develop the consumer products and services of tomorrow and give them the necessary edge to compete in an ever-evolving, fast-paced environment.

This role will focus exclusively on the German consumer and you will have responsibility for researching and writing reports for our digital platform. As you develop your skills and knowledge of consumer markets, you will also have the opportunity to work directly with clients and Mintel’s sales and marketing/PR teams.

This role is ideal for someone with strong expertise in health science and who wants to apply this expertise to the market research industry. You’ll be the go-to-expert for all health-related content in Germany and you’ll develop your writing skills, gain a broad understanding of consumer research methodology, and fine-tune your ability to turn data and desk research into actionable insights that help our clients grow their business.

At its core, this job is all about understanding consumer trends and behaviour, so we are looking for someone who is interested in people, and what makes them tick when it comes to health. You also need to be a strong communicator, both in person and in writing.

While experience in a research role is desirable, we would consider applications from candidates without direct experience, but who can demonstrate strong writing and analysis skills and profound expertise in health science.

What your job involves - Job responsibilities:

Research and report writing: You will be researching industry issues and trends that impact company strategy, brand development, innovation and consumer behaviour within the health industry in Germany. You will be using a multitude of research tools, including primary and secondary sources, alongside quantitative consumer research, to create insightful reports to a monthly publishing schedule. A significant share of this job will be creating content so a passion for writing and researching is essential.

Consumer research: You will be designing a quantitative consumer survey for each of your reports, identifying key objectives to gain insights into consumer preferences, behaviours and trends across different areas of health (eg digestive health, sleep health)

Insight generation: Both as part of the report writing process and in your interactions with clients and industry figures, you’ll need to be able to turn consumer research findings, market data and industry knowledge into actionable insight and implications for clients.

Building relationships with clients and industry figures: Mintel’s clients range from small marketing agencies to the most well-known giants of the FMCG and professional services world. Information flows both ways. We help clients understand the markets in which they or their customers are operating, but also draw on their knowledge as part of the report-writing process, conducting trade interviews in order to gain insight into the key issues facing the industry.

Working with other Mintel teams: Analysts have daily contact with a wide range of colleagues in other areas of the company. Key contacts include our global team of market analysts, the research services team, who manage consumer research and provide statistical support, our sales team, and our PR and marketing teams.

What we would like you to have - Required skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in health science/public health, natural sciences, health management or related field and/or first professional or internship experience in the pharmaceutical industry/health industry
  • Deep understanding of medication/health services (eg composition, efficacy), ability to interpret scientific literature
  • Knowledge of the regulatory background of OTC health products
  • Ideally, experience in (consumer) research, including survey design
  • Passion for health-related topics
  • Affinity for writing and strong writing skills
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills and ability to work with complex data sets to tell a story
  • Great organisational skills and ability to take responsibility for key stages of the publishing process and ability to work independently
  • Fluency in written and spoken German and English (minimum C1 efficiency for both)

We are looking for people who will make Mintel better. We believe there are many different ways of developing skills and we love diverse experiences. So even if you don’t ”tick all the boxes” but think you’d thrive in this role, we would really like to learn more about you!
