The role Key responsibilities- Collaborate with partner teams to co-develop large-scale Machine Learning infrastructure for robot learning.
- Streamline/improve the scalability and efficiency of large-scale distributed ML workflows by analysing, understanding, and fixing bottlenecks.
- Design of robotics experiments and scientific evaluation of results.
- Closely work with cross-functional teams in a highly dynamic environment, quickly prototype, iterate, and deliver robot capabilities in real-world applications.
- Keep track of major changes and trends in infrastructure and enable adoption of new frameworks and systems without significant impact on development work.
In order to set you up for success as a Research Engineer at Google DeepMind, we look for the following skills and experience:
- Knowledge of machine learning for robotics research, for example able to explain RT2 and RT-X, and follows the latest state-of-the-art research in Vision Language Models.
- Solid Python and C++ programming skills. Some experience using ML frameworks (e.g. Jax).
- A standout colleague and generalist with product mindset, willingness to learn, who is driven and wants to work in a fast-paced team trying to connect Gemini-intelligence to physical robots
- Experience with developing and maintaining robot software systems.
- Prior experience of applying ML methods in the context of robotics.
- Experience with designing scalable backend infrastructure and distributed systems.
