THE ROLE
We are seeking a Schools ICT Engineer to join our onsite Managed Services team supporting a large Secondary School in the St Helens area. This is a hands‑on role providing high‑availability ICT services to a diverse range of users including staff, students, and school visitors.
You will play a key part in ensuring the smooth operation of day‑to‑day school ICT services, responding to incidents, deploying devices, maintaining equipment, and supporting key school events. Excellent communication skills, a customer‑focused attitude, and the ability to work effectively within a team are essential.
This role is based on the school campus and requires daily onsite attendance.The typical shift pattern is 8:00am – 4:00pm, Monday to Friday, but this may change based on business needs, including early mornings and evenings.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide face‑to‑face and remote support to students, staff, and visitors.
- Log, manage, and resolve ICT incidents within defined SLAs and KPIs.
- Deliver exceptional customer service at all times.
- Build, configure, and deploy end‑user devices for staff and students.
- Install and update applications on user devices.
- Support printers, projectors, and other school equipment.
- Complete administrative tasks including asset management and documentation.
- Support school events such as open evenings, parents’ evenings, and other scheduled activities.
- Work collaboratively with other ICT engineers to maintain a reliable, high‑availability environment.
- Knowledge of Microsoft products and operating systems (Windows 10/11; Windows Server environments).
- Understanding of mixed Apple and Microsoft environments.
- Hardware and software support experience (PCs, laptops, printers, projectors).
- Networking fundamentals.
- Familiarity with SharePoint‑driven information‑sharing solutions.
- Understanding of MFD printers in a networked environment.
- Ability to build and test devices across different operating systems.
- Some knowledge of Apple devices and their use in a managed network environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong problem‑solving and analytical abilities.
- Self‑motivated with good time management and planning skills.
- Strong interest in IT and delivering high‑quality services.
- Experience working in an IT support or customer service environment.
- Experience within education ICT support is desirable but not essential.
- Minimum 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above, including English and Mathematics.
- Full, clean driving licence.
- Ability to pass an Enhanced DBS check (required).
