Owl Payments, a growing and dynamic business within the Tripadvisor group, is seeking a dedicated Security Engineer to strengthen and oversee the security of its operations. As a Security Engineer, you will be a key player in ensuring the protection of our systems, data, and services in alignment with regulatory standards and industry best practices. You will collaborate closely with our team to safeguard Owl Payments' operations as it expands its payment institution services in Europe.

What You’ll Do

  • Incident Reporting and Management:
    • Collaborate with Tripadvisor Inc. to ensure the immediate reporting of all incidents affecting Owl Payments Europe.
    • Apply the EBA Guidelines on major incident reporting under PSD2 (EBA/GL/2021/03) to assess and report operational or security incidents.
    • Evaluate incidents against predefined criteria and indicators, addressing monetary, operational, and reputational impacts.
  • Security Oversight:
    • Design and implement security measures to protect Owl Payments' financial operations, data, and infrastructure.
    • Monitor network traffic and systems for security breaches, intrusion attempts, and vulnerabilities.
    • Manage and configure security devices, including firewalls and intrusion detection systems.
    • Conduct security assessments, audits, and reviews of projects, applications, and infrastructure.
  • Regulatory Compliance:
    • Ensure compliance with security standards and regulations, including ISO 27001, NIST, and GDPR.
    • Collaborate with Owl Payments Europe Senior Management Team to report incidents to the competent authority.
    • Stay updated on local security regulations and standards affecting the payment industry in Europe.
  • Security Culture:
    • Develop and maintain security awareness and training programs for both technical and non-technical staff.
    • Assist in creating and nurturing a culture of security within Owl Payments Europe.

Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a security-related role, with a strong background in financial services security.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements, including PSD2, EBA Guidelines, and the Central Bank of Ireland's licensing process.
  • Familiarity with security standards, including ISO 27001, NIST, and GDPR.
  • Experience in incident assessment, reporting, and compliance with regulatory guidelines.
  • Strong understanding of network and information security concepts, best practices, and common vulnerabilities.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, especially when working with cross-functional teams and senior management.
  • Relevant security certifications, such as CISSP, CISM, or equivalent credentials, are advantageous.
  • Familiarity with the local security landscape and regional regulations in Ireland, UK, and EU.
