You will be a key player in investigating security incidents, developing new preventative security controls, and driving education and awareness initiatives to safeguard our research environment.

The RoleAs the first member of the Security team based in the US, you’ll be instrumental in protecting our research assets and leading data security investigations.
Key responsibilities:
- Data Security Investigations: Lead in-depth insider risk investigations into potential data security breaches, identifying the root cause, scope of impact, and necessary remediation actions.
- Incident Management: Coordinate the response to insider risk security incidents, ensuring effective communication, containment, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Detective & Preventative Controls: Proactively contribute to defining requirements and policies for new data security controls that align with the evolving threat landscape and Google DeepMind’s research-led requirements.
- Education and Awareness: Develop and deliver engaging education and awareness programs that promote a strong security culture within DeepMind’s research teams.
- Collaboration and Relationship Building: Partner closely with researchers, engineers, and other stakeholders to understand their security needs and foster open communication channels.
In order to set you up for success as a Security Investigations Manager at Google DeepMind, we look for the following skills and experience:
- Technical Expertise: Possess a solid understanding of data security principles, threat vectors, investigation techniques, and incident response practices.
- Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to analyze complex data sets, connect the dots, and identify the root causes of security incidents.
- Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively present technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Adaptability: Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and able to effectively prioritize tasks in response to changing security demands.
- Passion for Security: Genuine enthusiasm for managing programs related to protecting confidential information and intellectual property, understanding the unique challenges of securing a pioneering research environment!
In addition, the following would be an advantage:
- Information Security Certification (CISSP preferred).
- Investigative Interviewing Certification from a national or internationally recognized organization (Wicklander Zulawski preferred).
- Formal investigative training or certifications.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is between $96,000 - $147,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your targeted location during the hiring process.
