The Software Engineer Opportunity

Okta is looking for an experienced staff level Software Engineer in Test. This role will partner with the Data & ML Platform teams and is instrumental in continuing to enhance our data analytics pipeline. The ideal candidate is passionate about testing large-scale, mission-critical software in a fast-paced agile environment. The Data & ML Platform teams are responsible for the foundational data & ML services, systems, and data & ML products at Okta that benefit our users. This team will work closely with the Data Scientists and the Data Platform team to solve challenges that enable AI for Okta.

 

What you’ll be doing 

  • Automate API tests, End-to-End tests, reliability/scale tests
  • Review requirements and design specs to develop relative test plans and test cases
  • Work with engineering management to scope and plan engineering efforts
  • Clearly communicate and document QE plans for scrum teams to review and comment
  • Automate all critical features to maintain zero-debt cadence
  • Release features with solid quality to customers
  • Respond to Production issues/alerts and customer issues during on-call rotation

 

What you’ll bring to the role

  • 7+ years of test automation development experience in Java and/or Python
  • Excellent grasp of software engineering principles
  • Experience with UI and API automation testing

 

Experience with some of the following is a plus:

  • Experience in using a cloud-based distributed computing technologies including
  • Experience in training and testing machine learning models
  • Experience in machine learning pipelines and frameworks like Airflow, SageMaker, MLFlow, Kubeflow or other similar frameworks
  • Industry experience testing end-to-end Machine Learning Platforms 
  • JMeter
  • SQL queries
  • Working with a US based team is a plus
  • B.S. Computer Science or related field
