Senior Accountant, External Reporting
We’re looking for a Senior Accountant, External Reporting to help us with our consolidation and reporting function. This position is responsible for full-cycle accounting, month-end close processes, financial reporting, and technical accounting activities with the finance team, the business, and external service providers. While working in a hybrid work arrangement, a blend of virtual (in accordance with Hootsuite’s distributed workforce strategy), and in Hootsuite’s Vancouver office, you will report to the Senior Manager, Financial Reporting.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Responsible for effective, efficient and timely month-end close process, including maintenance of the general ledger, preparation and review of variance analysis and other relevant reporting and insights
- Complete full-cycle accounting, including preparing consolidation processes, journal entries, reconciliations, statements, analysis and schedules
- Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements in a complex, multi-currency environment under US GAAP
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting working papers and supporting schedules
- Assist with interim and year-end audits of financial statements of the group
- Research technical accounting positions and prepare memos, analyzing and making recommendations for changes or improvements
- Oversee work of external accountants in preparation of legal entity financial statements and assist with statutory audits
- Key member of the treasury function; facilitate weekly wire runs, day to day banking administrative duties, annually KYC compliance filings
- Prepare other external reporting tasks including cap tables, and investor reporting
- Support the Finance team with strategic initiatives such as M&A activities, and other special projects as required
- Assist with cross-functional initiatives and related financial processes
- Act as a key member of the team in development, implementation, standardization, documentation and improvement of processes
- Provide assistance with other special projects as required
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
- CPA Designation
- 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience as an auditor for a public accounting firm
- Proven ability to manage complex projects to successful completion
- Proficient knowledge of US GAAP with the ability to research and propose company positions on complex accounting issues
