Senior Analyst - Canada Marketing Strategy & Operations

A marketing general analyst who supports the Canada CMO, specifically to drive performance marketing success. This person is the resident expert on marketing channel performance for the brand, steers the marketing strategic planning process (i.e. target-setting & forecasting) for the brand, and leads the thinking on multi-channel marketing strategies (e.g. targeting) that improve channel effectiveness & customer health. This person reports directly to the CMO for the brand and partners with a distributed team of marketing channel analysts and cross-functional partners. 

Responsibilities:

Channel effectiveness (25%): Bring brand expertise & deep understanding of full marketing funnel to serve as strategic thought partner to marketing channel teams. Hold individual channels accountable for test rigor, cross-store parity, and business results. Draw connections across channel roadmaps (e.g. between prospecting & email) to improve overall customer experience to amplify channel-specific performance. Promote a balanced focus on operational excellence & innovation, especially as it pertains to the unique strategy & needs of a given brand. 

Marketing performance (15%): Own the marketing performance narrative in all formal & informal touchpoints. Steer deep-dive investigations that span across channels (in partnership with BT, VM, CM & marketing channel teams) to deliver actionable insights to leadership. Own all formal reporting.Note: Business Trends team is a core partner and focuses on store-level trends, whereas the cross-channel analyst is the expert on marketing performance (at times an input into store)

Strategic planning (10%): “Responsible” for ad spend forecasting/budgeting process with channels and relevant analysis to drive better target-setting (CMO is accountable), and ongoing reporting on performance vs. forecast (+ drivers).

Strategic projects (40%): Multi-channel marketing strategies: Develop and help execute cross-channel playbooks to market strategic programs for the Canada business (eg domestic/EB exposure playbook, playbook for launching new suppliers or marketing new offerings like open box, playbook for marketing high-priority categories, etc). Lead multi-channel process improvement projects (eg improving French translations). Serve as project manager for complex multi-channel projects, ensuring scalability / sustainability of initiatives, knowledge-sharing & impactful results. 

New channel exploration / launch (as applicable): Build business case, determine launch strategy and proof-of-concept plan, and operate new channels based on brand priorities & near-term opportunities. Opportunity assessed on case-by-case basis, but is required to have a set plan and timeline (where stakeholders decide whether to resource or pause). 

Team leadership (10%): Leads team-building & activities that drive affinity amongst distributed teams. Also includes active participation in leadership discussions as a marketing expert. Serve as CMO proxy when needed.
