The Pricing Methodology and Operations team is responsible for setting and overseeing the retail price, taking into account profitability, customer and supplier experience, and efficiency. We perform analyses and develop algorithms for various pricing components across European catalogs.

We are looking for candidates who have a strong business sense, excel in critical thinking, and like to utilize analytics to solve business problems. We work with large datasets and collaborate with various stakeholder teams to provide the most appropriate pricing strategies.

What You Will Do

As a Senior Analyst in Pricing Methodology and Operations, you will take ownership of development, monitoring, and problem solving different pricing logic and algorithms for optimizing price for the EU business. The role will focus on developing and improving the margin estimation and pricing quality monitoring methodology for the EU catalogs. This person will help identify opportunities in pricing fidelity, and help monitoring and steering the profitability of the EU business. Your responsibilities include:

  • Developing methodology for estimating post-order margin for EU catalogs and monitor and improve its performance in line with the business use cases
  • Setting up processes and tools to monitor the accuracy and timeliness of pricing output, and identifying improvement opportunities
  • Measuring progress along KPIs and communicating through regular steering meetings with cross-functional stakeholders. You develop robust reporting capabilities to measure the impact of pricing on key metrics
  • Setting up and maintaining monitoring capabilities that can track and provide insights into trends over time for future strategies
  • Influencing other teams for prioritizing specific pricing strategies or changes based on data insights
  • Acting as a point person for managing pricing inquiries from other teams, and recognize needs for and develop systematic solutions to solve them
  • Troubleshooting business development and the ability to do non-standard analyses on terabyte datasets
  • Contributing to the Wayfair culture: role-modeling continuous learning and coaching junior colleagues

 

What You'll Need
  • A Bachelor’s degree from top-tier institution with a distinguished academic record, ideally in a quantitative field (math, economics, statistics, physics, engineering, etc.); MSc, MBA or PhD Preferred
  • 3+ years of work experience in an analytical and/or stakeholder-facing role, preferably with a pricing background
  • Communication skills: you communicate effectively with different levels of seniority, both written and verbally. You lay out thoughts and plans in well structured documents and co-develop them with your manager and stakeholders
  • Results focus: you have demonstrated the ability to deliver strong results and feel comfortable with sharing quick results early to improve over time. You collaborate effectively with other teams to achieve your goals and can influence other teams roadmaps as well as execute yourself
  • Business acumen: you are familiar with financial statements and have experience with fundamental business metrics such as revenue, cost, profit, basket size, conversion, etc.
  • Strong quantitative skills: you have hands-on experience with manipulation and analysis of large data sets. Advanced knowledge in Google Bigquery and proficient knowledge of one structured programming language (preferably Python) required. Ideally you also bring a distinct analytical skill that you can introduce to the team
