What is The Role:

As the Senior Analyst, Technical Accounting and Financial Reporting working in the Accounting Organization and reporting to the Senior Manager, Technical Accounting and Financial Reporting, you will be responsible for the accuracy and integrity of Elastic’s quarterly and annual SEC filings. You will also participate in providing technical accounting analysis of significant or unusual transactions and recently issued accounting updates. You will interact regularly with external auditors, the Accounting, Legal, Investor Relations, and FP&A teams, as well as other team members from all levels including senior leadership and across many different departments in a fast-growing, dynamic, and distributed company. This position requires familiarity with SEC reporting requirements and US generally accepted accounting principles, excellent communications, critical thinking, and project management skills.

What You Will Be Doing:
  • Contribute to the Company’s external financial reporting process, including SEC reporting (10-K, 10-Q) and compilation of financial statements, management's discussion and analysis, and footnote disclosures
  • Assist with technical accounting matters such as equity accounting and reporting, marketable securities, leases, revenue recognition, and impairment assessments including research and documentation for a variety of complex and non-standard transactions such as mergers and acquisitions, debt offerings, new stock compensation arrangements, adoption of new standards, as well as general corporate accounting matters
  • Develop and apply expertise in US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements, with the ability to research and analyze new and proposed disclosure requirements
  • Support XBRL process
  • Analyze filings by other registrants and industry reports to assess trends in financial statement disclosures
  • Perform tie-out of quarterly and annual financial statements and earnings materials
  • Collaborate with other organizations and/or departments in order to implement new accounting standards, including assessing the reporting implications and ensuring the availability of requisite information for financial reporting
  • Play a role in maintaining, updating, and evaluating new accounting policies
  • Support annual audit and quarterly reviews with external auditors, the Accounting team, and executive management
  • Participate in special projects as needed
What You Will Bring:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or on track towards certification
  • Working knowledge of US GAAP and SEC technical accounting and reporting
  • 2+ years of external audit, technical accounting, and/or financial reporting experience
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to independently research accounting and reporting issues, propose solutions, and effectively document conclusions with excellent written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks to meet critical deadlines by managing multiple deliverables concurrently
  • Strong analytical skills, exceptional attention to detail, and a willingness to support the team on a variety of high-priority tasks
  • Ability to work both independently and as a great teammate in a dynamic environment
  • Demonstrated professional commitment, initiative, accountability and ownership of assignments
Bonus Points:
  • Big 4 and/or publicly traded company experience
  • Experience with software and tools such as Equity Edge Online, Workiva’s WDesk, NetSuite, and Intelligize
  • Familiarity with XBRL

Compensation for this role is in the form of base salary.  This role does not have a variable compensation component.  

The typical starting salary range for new hires in this role is listed below.  In select locations (including Seattle WA, Los Angeles CA, the San Francisco Bay Area CA, and the New York City Metro Area), an alternate range may apply as specified below. 

These ranges represent the lowest to highest salary we reasonably and in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting.  We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the ranges may be modified in the future.  

An employee's position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.

Therefore, in addition to cash compensation, this role is currently eligible to participate in Elastic's stock program.  Our total rewards package also includes a company-matched 401k with dollar-for-dollar matching up to 6% of eligible earnings, along with a range of other benefits offered with a holistic emphasis on employee well-being.
