Ripple is working to build new product experiences around crypto liquidity. This Internet of Value gives any internet-enabled person, application, or device access to financial services that are transparent, fast, reliable, and cheap. Delivering this vision is a challenge of a massive scale spanning $155 trillion in annual cross-border fiat payments and the $1.5 trillion market of digital assets that has grown 10X in the last year. 

To drive innovation faster and be more customer-centric, the Data Analytics team is looking for a passionate Data Engineer who can help us build the new payment data warehouse from scratch. This is a senior-level role which requires a clear vision to shape the future of our payment data to be more user-friendly,  high-quality, and cost-effective. The person will be the key player to empower all the stakeholders at Ripple to make more data-driven decisions.

 

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • In this role, you will design and implement the key payment data models for various analytics, ML/AI solutions, and data-centric product features, which includes building batch/stream ETL pipelines for payment golden datasets, creating unified data monitoring and alerting system for operation excellence, and setting up the standard for payment data governance. 
  • Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate an ability and history of thoughtfulness and curiosity in data modeling, pipelining, governance, and security. 
  • The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in designing, developing, and managing an enterprise-level data warehouse/lakehouse with complex interdependencies with a focus on high availability, scalability, accuracy, and latency. 
  • Your customers will be mainly scientists, engineers, analysts, and product managers so how to empower them to be more self-serve and access high-quality data anytime easily are the key to success.
  • Design data integrations and data quality framework. 
  • Coaching other engineers on best practices for designing and operating reliable systems at scale.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

  • 5+ years’ experience in designing and developing enterprise data warehouse and engineering solutions that have supported massive workloads and data scale/volume
  • Experience working with cloud-based data platforms, such as Databricks (preferred), BigQuery, Redshift, etc.
  • Proven experience with various data modeling techniques
  • Solid understanding of data integration, quality, and governance
  • Proficiency in programming languages (Python, SQL), scripting languages (Bash, shell scripting), configuration management and/or provisioning tools (Terraform or CloudFormation), CI/CD technologies (Jenkins or GitLab), and version control tools like Git
  • Hands-on experience with building real-time systems and a good understanding of fundamental data science
  • Great communication skills both in written and verbal 
  • Passionate about moving fast and fearlessly, solving challenging problems with no clear guidance, and working with people from different backgrounds and having different perspectives
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, equivalent training, or work experience
