About the team

We are currently looking for a Senior Analytics Engineer to enhance the capabilities of the Global Finance Analytics Team and contribute to SumUp's strategic objectives. The Finance Analytics team focuses on constructing financial KPIs and consolidating merchant funnel steps across various markets and products and contribute to shape the global SumUp strategy with actionable insights.

Your involvement in this experienced data team will make a substantial impact on our business, allowing you to introduce best practices to SumUp and serve as a role model for other domains.

What you'll do:

  • Develop comprehensive data models by merging data sources from diverse sources, including operational databases (Kafka/PostgreSQL), third-party platforms (Salesforce, SAP), and other domains
  • Ensure seamless alignment of business logic and Key Performance Indicator (KPI) definitions with various stakeholders across the organization, encompassing data producers (e.g., software developers) to data consumers (e.g., FP&A)
  • Provide expertise and guidance to Data Analysts on the effective utilization of dbt and the creation of efficient marts and reporting models
  • Contribute to the design of our in-house self-service analytics stack (Snowflake, dbt) in coordination with the data platform team
  • Collaborate with the dbt guild to define and implement best practices for multi-repository and model-sharing within the organization
  • Refine and optimize domain data operations processes, including Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) and Pull Request (PR) review mechanisms

You'll be a great fit for this role if you have:

  • 5+ years of professional work experience in technology, startups, data warehousing, or analytics, with at least 2 years of hands-on experience with dbt
  • A passion for dbt and a strong focus on structure, scalability, and best practices, including documentation, conventions, and refactoring
  • Proficiency in Python, Airflow, and cloud environments such as AWS, along with Git
  • Expertise in cloud data warehousing, ideally with Snowflake
  • Contributed to implementing a collaborative approach for an effective data mesh organization using dbt core and in-house development
  • Dealt with commercial and financial data, demonstrating experience in designing, building, and managing complex data models with downstream data mart dependencies
  • Experience in analyzing business requirements across various functional areas and translating them into actionable data products

Nice to have:

  • Experience with fintech data (billing, revenue, payment).
  • Experience with Data Mesh and multi-repository architecture
