Senior Associate, Data Governance
This position is a hybrid in-office role that works out of our Boston HQ. Monday-Thursday requires in office attendance and Friday is flexible as a work from home day. This is not a virtual / remote position.
Wayfair’s Finance group is seeking a Data Governance Senior Associate to join our dynamic Data Health team, a critical function within Wayfair’s global Accounting team. As part of our ongoing Finance Transformation efforts, Wayfair has recently implemented SAP S/4HANA as its core ERP system. This role offers a unique opportunity to partner with stakeholders across Finance, Engineering, and other business functions to develop and optimize data governance policies and procedures that ensure high-quality financial data and drive operational efficiency. Responsibilities:
- Lead Data Governance Initiatives: Establish and enforce core data policies, governance frameworks, and data quality standards to ensure consistency and accuracy in financial data.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Act as a strategic partner to Finance, Accounting, and Engineering teams to ensure data governance policies align with business objectives.
- Data Quality Analysis: Monitor and analyze key data quality metrics, identifying trends and areas for enhancement while implementing corrective measures where needed.
- Change Management & Training: Develop training materials and lead workshops to promote data governance best practices across the organization.
- SAP & Technology Integration: Partner with Engineering teams to integrate and maintain core data governance solutions that support business needs across the organization.
- Policy & Procedure Optimization: Review, recommend, and implement best practices in data governance policies and procedures, driving continuous improvement across the organization.
- Develop and Maintain Data Ownership Standards: Define and implement data ownership frameworks, ensuring clear accountability across stakeholders and supporting long-term data governance success.
- Become an SAP Core Data Subject Matter Expert: Develop deep expertise in SAP core data dimensions and provide guidance to business stakeholders on selecting the appropriate data dimensions to drive key reporting insights for both new and existing business initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or a related analytical field (e.g., Economics, Engineering, Business, Mathematics, Statistics, Science, or Analytics).
- 2+ years of experience in data governance, core data management, finance or analytical-related roles within a corporate setting.
- Familiarity with SAP (S/4HANA preferred but not required)
- Strong analytical and problem solving mindset with experience in data quality management, data validation, and process automation.
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and a collaborative team player.
- Organized and self-motivated, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, balancing multiple priorities while driving results.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams, demonstrating strong interpersonal, communication and stakeholder management skills; including experience in translating financial concepts to individuals at all levels, including both finance and non-finance managers.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Quick learner, adept at mastering new systems, processes, and procedures
Nice to Haves:
- Exposure to data integration tools, data governance platforms, or enterprise data models.
- Familiarity with SQL or Google BigQuery (GBQ)
