About us

At GoCardless we believe bank payments are the best way to pay and get paid. We also believe that bank account data is a powerful tool to make better, faster decisions. We’re making it easy to use both- for businesses everywhere.

GoCardless is used for domestic and international payments by 75,000+ organisations and counting, processing more than $30 billion across 30 countries. We’re an award-winning London based fintech, with additional offices in Riga, Paris and Melbourne.

The Role

We are looking for a Senior Associate to drive our Corporate Development ambition and deliver on GoCardless’s inorganic growth strategy.  The role reports directly to the VP, Head of Corporate Development, Kamila McWilliam, and has significant visibility across the organisation as well as externally. The role will focus on all aspects of M&A, including origination and end-to-end execution of potential transactions.

GoCardless’s vision is to become the world’s bank payment network, and M&A is embedded in the Company’s strategy as a core lever for growth.  Over the near and medium term, GoCardless will be actively identifying opportunities to consolidate, enhance, and diversify its already strong market positioning. This role is core to the delivery of this ambition.

For the timing being, this team is small, but mighty and includes only two people! As part of any M&A process, we would lead and leverage a broader virtual cross-group team to execute any potential transaction.

What excites you:

  • Being up to date on fintech and market developments. Engaging in industry dialogue with key players (investors, bankers, other advisors)
  • Aligning across the business on its strategic priorities regularly and identifying areas where M&A can contribute. As part of this role, you will own the target Company database and refine that across business-identified parameters
  • Using your corporate finance skills. We expect you to be familiar with and understand corporate finance building blocks, from company modeling through to valuation, capital management, and returns analysis
  • M&A process management including due diligence process, transaction documentation execution, etc
  • Preparation of Executive Management team and Board materials
What excites us:
  • Minimum 3-4 years of experience in Corporate Development, preferably gained through roles in industry and/or Investment Banking/Corporate Finance Advisory
  • Worked on a number of M&A transactions including investments, acquisitions, mergers, and capital raising, amongst others
  • Strong financial modeling and corporate finance skills
  • A good understanding of the payment and fintech space
  • Excellent Excel, Powerpoint, and presentation skills
  • Can-do approach, collaborative attitude, and strong communication skills
  • Knowledge of the legal execution side of M&A is a plus, but not required
