The Community You Will Join:

The Marketplaces & Intelligence Data & AI team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our team. The team provides rich, high-quality data assets to power insights that enable Airbnb and our hosts to be competitive in our marketplaces. The team is composed of Engineers specializing in Data, Analytics, Backend and Machine Learning, and we work closely with a wide range of teams across the company, including Data Science, Strategic Finance, and Sales Operations, and Product Engineering in order to see our work through to business impact.

The Difference You Will Make:

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will work in a team of engineers with diverse expertise to build foundational data sets that power insights for the company and our host community. You will play an end-to-end role in scoping new functionality, aligning with stakeholders on technical requirements, and implementation of these features.

A Typical Day: 

• Work collaboratively in cross-functional teams with finance, operations and data science partners, to define and ship impactful features. 
• Present product and technical deep dives to key stakeholders.
• Architect and implement scalable high-quality and high-traffic products (or systems) 
• Drive alignment, manage projects and effectively collaborate with stakeholders
• Write unit and integration tests; review other’s code
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous learning

Your Expertise:

• 5+ years of software development experience
• Strong expertise in one or more back-end  languages (Python/Java/Kotlin/etc.)
• Ability to drive alignment and manage projects with stakeholders.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills and the ability to work well within engineering organization and cross functions
• Able to self-serve on data analysis and make data-driven decisions
• Desire to tackle projects with large open-ended scope and drive significant business impact

Your Location:

This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed to with your manager.
