The role in a nutshell  

This is a critical high impact role for an entrepreneurial leader with deep understanding of trading and investing. As the BD Manager - MY you will have full ownership to drive new revenue from our most demanding customer segments. You will own the strategy to acquire and serve professional traders and affluent investors, define and implement state of the art sales and relationship management processes and manage and grow a dedicated team. In addition, you will spearhead Luno’s expansion into new customer segments leading everything from needs discovery with prospects through internal prioritisation and capability building until go-live.

You will be based in our Kuala Lumpur office, report to and work closely with the Country Manager Malaysia and have access to and support from Luno’s global team across all layers of the organisation.

Your mission will involve
  • Generating, testing and scaling ideas to acquire high value target customers through new channels and partnerships
  • Overseeing proactive customer relationship management for our top customers to maximise retention, grow share of wallet and guide product development
  • Sourcing, building, and maintaining key relationships with the most valuable and relevant stakeholders in the ecosystem such as regulators, banks, and other Financial Institutions to explore longer-term partnerships and new use cases
  • Working with the Malaysia Country Manager, global product team, legal, operations, and other cross-functional stakeholders to constantly evolve and improve liquidity and trading capabilities for our most demanding customers 
  • Creating and improving internal processes for sales and relationship management to actively manage a highly visible sales pipeline and a list of top customers
  • Acting as cross-functional project manager when launching new value propositions and services for prospects and top customers
  • Owning the top customer strategy in Malaysia with accountability for the P&L and progress reporting to Luno’s global senior leadership
  • Coaching and mentoring the existing team members to drive top line impact and grow their career
  • As a subject matter expert for trading and investing, educating internal stakeholders
  • Together with the local leadership in Malaysia and with Luno’s global BD community,  shaping the longer-term strategy for B2B and Wealth Management
The ideal Lunaut will have:
  • Expertise in sales and sales management, preferably in Private Banking/Wealth Management
  • Thorough understanding and practical experience with trading and investing
  • Passion for and strong interest in a sensible approach to crypto and becoming one of the leading subject matter experts in the field
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills in both English and Bahasa Malaysia to interact with internal and external Executives
  • Proven ability to work with remote teams across time zones and foster a collaborative and creative work environment in a complex matrix environment.
  • Strong sense of ownership for delivery of projects and commercial outcomes.
  • A large existing network with professional traders, affluent investors, Financial Institutions, Fintech, media, regulators 
  • Bachelor/Master’s Degree from a reputable University.
