The role

The purpose of the role is to lead the design, development of automation systems that optimize business operations and decision-making. This role oversees the creation of robust, scalable, and web applications, while also data pipelines and standalone tools that automate and streamline critical business processes. You will be responsible for driving innovation through data and automation technologies, ensuring seamless data availability, reliable integrations, and operational efficiency across all company divisions in alignment with the organization’s strategic objectives.

The role involves collaborating closely with business units, technology teams, and other key stakeholders to provide expert technical guidance. The individual will champion a data-driven culture across the organisation and proactively drive continuous innovation and enhancement in data engineering practices. This role offers the opportunity to work independently, take ownership of projects, and develop the skills and experience needed to transition into a future leadership position.

What you'll bring

  • Develop and implement strategies for the development of automation tools and web applications that support business processes aligned with company objectives.
  • Collaborate closely with business units to identify opportunities for process automation and digital tool development that enhance operational efficiency and support partnerships.
  • Lead the end-to-end development of web applications and standalone automation solutions that streamline and optimize critical business workflows.
  • Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines that support both data delivery and requirements.
  • Ensure automation tools and web applications are tightly integrated with data architecture for seamless data access, processing, and reporting.
  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications for automation tools and web application development.
  • Communicate technical concepts and project progress effectively to stakeholders across technical and non-technical roles.
  • Drive innovation by adopting modern frameworks, APIs, and development methodologies for automation and application building.
  • Monitor and enhance the performance and user experience of automation tools and web applications.
  • Mentor colleagues on best practices for software development, automation, and data engineering integration.

You have/are…

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative discipline such as Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Proven hands-on experience in developing web applications using Javascript frameworks.
  • Proficiency in programming languages including Javascript, HTML, CSS, Python and SQL.
  • Good experience working with modern data platforms such as Databricks.
  • Strong knowledge in using AWS stack for web application development and automation.
  • Hands-on experience using Serverless architecture like AWS Lambda, ADFs.
  • Good hands-on experience with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions and Jenkins
  • Good knowledge on hosting and managing applications on Kubernetes.
  • Practical knowledge in using  LLMS for AI based automation.
  • Follows coding best practices.
  • Demonstrated competence in stakeholder  management, with the ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple concurrent projects.
