The Opportunity:Join our dynamic data team and play a pivotal role in shaping the user experience for individuals utilizing BI tools at Agoda. As a Senior data engineer (Visualization) you will primarily work with leading platforms such as Tableau, Metabase, and Superset, while also having the chance to explore other technologies. Your key responsibilities will include:

User Experience Focus - Take charge of enhancing the user experience for those leveraging BI tools, ensuring seamless interactions with platforms like Tableau, Metabase, and Superset. Your efforts will directly contribute to optimizing the usability and effectiveness of these tools.

Data Storytelling through Visualization - Empower individuals to leverage data as a storytelling tool. Guide and mentor teams on how to effectively use data visualization techniques to convey insights and narratives, fostering a culture of data-driven decision-making.

Exploration of Big Data Platforms - Seize the opportunity to delve into cutting-edge technologies, including Big Data platforms such as Hadoop, Vertica, and Cube. Work on projects that involve large-scale data processing, analysis, and visualization, contributing to our commitment to staying at the forefront of technological advancements.This role offers a unique blend of enhancing user experiences, promoting data-driven storytelling, and exploring advanced technologies in the realm of Big Data. In this Role, You'll Get to:

• User Support and Empowerment: Assist both business and IT users in maximizing the potential of our BI tools, enabling them to independently achieve their daily tasks and goals.

• Training and Knowledge Transfer: Conduct training courses on visualization tools and knowledge-sharing sessions for internal teams to enhance their proficiency.

• Performance Optimization: Implement performance tuning measures for dashboards and SQL scripts, providing consultative guidance on best practices to create efficient dashboards and optimize SQL scripts.

• Effective Communication: Keep users informed about product updates and incidents affecting them. Collaborate with stakeholder teams to investigate and resolve dashboard performance issues.

• User Adoption and Monitoring: Enhance and maintain tool user adoption while establishing robust processes for monitoring tool usage.

What You'll Need to Succeed:

• Educational Background: Degree in IT-related fields, Computer Science, MIS, or equivalent experience.

• Experience: 3+ years of relevant experience in Business Intelligence, data warehouse concepts, and proficiency with data tools such as MSDT, Tableau, Metabase, Superset, SQL Server, Vertica, Hadoop, and ETL tools.

• Technical Proficiency: Strong command of SQL and the ability to write complex queries for big data.

• Skills and Attributes: Service-minded, multitasking, problem-solving individual with excellent communication skills. Fast learner with a willingness to understand non-technical business and industry knowledge. Strong presentation skills.

• Language Proficiency: Strong proficiency in English, including speaking, reading, and writing.

• Team Collaboration: Ability to work both independently and as a team player.

It's Great If You Have: (Optional)

• Big Data Knowledge: Familiarity and experience with Big Data technologies such as Hadoop, Impala, Spark, and advanced ETL techniques.

• Coding: Python, XML

• Project Management Experience: Previous experience in project management.
