We are looking for a Senior Data Product Manager (all genders) to join our team in the heart of buzzing Berlin!

In your role as Senior Data Product Manager, your mission will be to change the future of language learning. You will work closely with the product & engineering leaders, product & learner experience designers, subject matter experts, and cross-platform engineers to bring this mission to reality for Babbel learners.

You will:

  • Focus on the outcome by translating company OKRs into more specific team KPIs and analyzing feature-level metrics to derive targets for the next areas of improvement. Communicate decisions and relevant business results to the rest of the company.
  • Enable the team to implement weekly touch points with Babbel learners, fostering a learning mindset and championing cross-functional collaboration at every discovery process step.
  • Empathize with Babbel learners through qualitative and quantitative research.
  • Work closely with the other members of the product trio (Product Designer and Engineering Manager) to prioritize opportunities and define experiments to de-risk the four big product risks: value, usability, feasibility, business viability, build hypotheses, prototype, and scope solutions to implement.
  • Leverage data collection to build data flywheels and set the market standard for AI-powered language learning.
  • Build strong partnerships and collaboration with key product functions beyond the product trio (Product Analytics, Data, Engineering, User Research, Learning Content) to discover, test, and release each feature
  • With the Engineering Manager, maintain a product backlog to facilitate a constant stream of valuable work for the team; continuously improve the team’s ways of working (agile ceremonies, best practices, team agreement) and ensure that data collection and processing standards are followed.

You are:

  • A lifelong learner, someone who can unlearn and learn quickly and wants to create an impact for our learners, ready to embrace the Babbel Product Culture
  • Comfortable with giving and receiving feedback for continuous improvement
  • Ready to take on responsibilities and accountability
  • Motivated to achieve business goals
  • Data-informed and business-oriented
  • Eager to innovate, prototype, and learn continuously through rapid testing
  • A compelling storyteller who can communicate in concise and inspiring ways to a variety of audience types

You have:

  • 5+ years experience working as a Product Manager in a cross-functional team
  • Pragmatic approach and bias to action: you prefer to improve iteratively rather than working on long-term bets
  • Demonstrated capability and hands-on experience in developing data products with an interest in data science
  • Experience with continuous discovery
  • A track record of delivering business value
  • Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English

Plus at least one of these:

  • Experience in Ed-Tech and Language learning
  • Experience in Speech Recognition and AI / NLP-related research
  • Experience in habit-building products
  • Experience in personalization and/or recommendation systems
  • Familiarity with data privacy and security regulations, such as GDPR and CCPA

Some perks of becoming a Babbelonian:

  • Enjoy 30 vacation days and the chance to take a 3-month Sabbatical. Plus family and life situation counseling.
  • Decide how, when and from where you want to work with our flexible working hours and remote friendly options as Jobbatical (up to 3 months inside the EU) or work from our fully equipped office with nap, faith and family rooms.
  • Learn and grow with the internal learning opportunities, and use a yearly learning & development budget for external training. Learn languages with Babbel for free with your full access to Babbel & Babbel Live classes.
  • Take advantage of your mobility benefits options and a discounted Urban Sports Club membership.
  • Be part of our employee communities (such as Femgineers, DE&I Ambassadors and LGBTQIA groups), attend cultural and regular social events.
