Senior Data Scientist, Pricing

The Community You Will Join:
- You will join a cross-functional team of data scientists, analysts, engineers, product managers, and designers who build pricing and data products for Airbnb hosts. You will guide the technical development of next-gen algorithms to improve the Airbnb marketplace for guests and hosts.

- You will develop next-generation pricing guidance for hosts, one of Airbnb’s most important growth and monetization levers. You will develop algorithms to help millions of new and existing hosts to find prices that work for them. A Typical Day:
- Design and evaluate pricing algorithms using state-of-the-art casual machine learning and/or reinforcement learning techniques.
- Write model specifications and scientific documents to clearly communicate ideas to other subject matter experts and cross-functional partners.
- Work hand-in-hand with marketplace data science and algorithms engineering teams to develop, implement, and iterate quickly.
- Advance the state-of-the-art for applied causal machine learning within Airbnb.
Your Expertise:
- PhD degree in a quantitative field, e.g. Computer Science, Operations Research, Mathematics, or Physics.
- 2+ years of relevant industry experience. Domain experience in pricing or promotions preferred but not required.
- Hands-on ‘builder’ experience in causal machine learning problems.
- Strong programming (Python / Scala / Java / C++ or equivalent) skills. Experience with ML technologies such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, Spark, Airflow
- Ability to communicate effectively with audiences of varying technical knowledge and seniority.

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.
Pay Range$174,000—$213,500 USD
