We are seeking an Assistant Controller to help lead our global accounting functions.  This is a high impact role that offers an outstanding opportunity to be part of a dynamic group. Your expertise will help drive and deliver flawless execution in operational accounting and you will bring subject matter expertise to build and lead a best in class accounting organization. You will oversee the accounting and controls for the routine accounting processes and the related impact on the Company’s systems and processes and ensure that business processes are delivered accurately and with velocity.

Accounting Operations and Close Leadership
  • Drive the day to day management of the financial close process and support the corporate reporting team through internal and external reporting on a monthly and quarterly basis. In addition, drive timely and accurate global statutory reporting and compliance
  • Ensures compliance with internal policies and external requirements; produce accurate, timely, and useful management reports that are in accordance with US GAAP
  • Establish and maintain strong internal controls; partner with the Finance Systems team to enable process excellence and automation - reducing technical process debt
  • Act as the key point of contact for both internal and external auditors to drive timely and accurate delivery of requests to ensure overall success of the audit and ability to meet committed deadlines.  Actively manage the team and the audit to deliver an efficient and effective process
  • Be unafraid to roll up your sleeves and embrace the details.  Work with the team to ensure account reconciliations and other related deliverables are completed accurately, efficiently, and timely. Lead by example and ensure all deliverables are reviewed and appropriately inspected
  • Represent the corporate controllership organization in special projects and establish strong and effective partnerships with your key stakeholders across the CFO organization (FP&A, Tax & Treasury, Internal Audit) and other cross functional teams.

  • Help build a best in class accounting function: provide leadership, mentorship, and professional development to the global accounting team and manage your team to perform effectively and deliver high impact
  • Drive a culture of accountability and continuous improvement within the accounting organization and with key cross-functional stakeholders by establishing clear ownership, communication protocols, and alignment on deliverables and timelines
  • You have the ability to prioritize and manage multiple, high priority initiatives and can help your team prioritize accordingly to deliver at velocity and maximum business impact
  • Enable a culture of career development and growth.  Work with each member of the team to develop growth plans to ensure your employees develop professionally and deepen their core competencies
Leadership and Operational Excellence:
  • Design, enhance, and maintain strong internal controls over financial reporting, ensuring compliance with SOX requirements
  • Support efforts that aim to standardize general ledger processes and increase efficiencies across the globally distributed team
  • Modernize accounting processes through automation, process improvement, and systems upgrades across the controllership organization
  • You are able to influence senior executives and stakeholders and can make difficult decisions (and/or engage in challenging conversations) as needed to deliver the best outcome for the enterprise
What We're Looking For (the tactical and professional skills)
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or equivalent experience in finance or accounting
  • Active CPA license (or equivalent)
  • 15+ overall years of combined public and industry accounting experience (including demonstrated leadership experience managing global teams with a focus on development and coaching for impact)
  • Experience in process automation and system improvements to scale an organization
  • Expert level proficiency in ERP (Netsuite, SAP/Oracle) and SOX compliant environments
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills - able to explain complex concepts and mechanics simply and clearly
  • You have a focus on operational excellence - inclusive of execution precision and controls
  • Strong leadership capabilities including the ability to lead with empathy while also managing and inspiring your team to operate for high impact and performance

Compensation at the time of offer is unique to each candidate and based on a variety of factors such as skill set, experience, qualifications, and work location. Salary is one part of MongoDB’s total compensation and benefits package. MongoDB’s base salary range for this role in the U.S. is:$148,000—$292,000 USD
