About the role

As the Director of Pricing and Discount Strategy at HelloFresh, you will lead a team of pricing and discounting experts responsible for optimizing pricing strategies across our international markets. Your role is pivotal in optimizing pricing strategies for HelloFresh Core and adjacent brands, with the goal of maximizing profitability while staying competitive. This position offers a unique opportunity to influence and drive HelloFresh's growth by shaping pricing strategies, conducting tests, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to assess financial impacts and make data-driven decisions.

This role is based in Berlin, Germany and reporting into Dirk Brauner, VP Marketing. 

What you’ll do

In this role, you will be responsible for developing the optimal pricing and discount strategy for HelloFresh International as well as other brands in the HelloFresh portfolio. 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Team Leadership: Lead a team of pricing and discounting experts, providing direction, mentorship, and guidance to ensure effective pricing strategies and decisions are implemented across international market clusters.
  • Optimal Pricing and Discount Strategy: Develop and refine pricing strategies, including pricing modularity, SKU prices, and surcharge prices for HelloFresh Core and adjacent brands, aligning them with the company's financial goals and market conditions.
  • Test Planning and Coordination: Plan and oversee all price and discount tests for HelloFresh International, collaborating closely with HelloTech teams, senior management, and Marketing teams to ensure seamless execution and data-driven decision-making.
  • HelloTech Roadmap Influence: Act as a key stakeholder in shaping the HelloTech product roadmap, using your expertise to align technology development with pricing and discounting strategies.
  • Financial Impact Analysis: Evaluate the financial impact of price and discount adjustments and tests, providing insights to support strategic decisions and maximize profitability.
  • Governance of Discount Settings: Establish and maintain governance of discount settings across various marketing functions, ensuring consistency and alignment with pricing strategies.
  • Business Impact Assessment: Analyze the impact of pricing decisions on different parts of the business, including Production, Customer Care, Culinary, Procurement, Logistics, and Marketing, and make recommendations for optimization.
  • P&L Modeling and Business Cases: Develop models to assess profit and loss impacts and sensitivities related to pricing strategies, using data to build compelling business cases and inform executive decision-making.
What you’ll bring
  • Minimum 8 years of professional experience in a fast-paced and data-driven environment like strategy consulting and / or tech
  • Extensive experience with Discount & Pricing Strategy and execution of tests
  • Very strong analytical skills and advanced command of Excel, Tableau etc.
  • Experience with and established track record of success managing high performing teams is required
  • Experience in operating in large organizations with complex stakeholder structures
  • A strong drive to learn and excel
