About the Team

At Crunchyroll, our platforms and infrastructure form the foundation on which our services are built and directly influence our customer experience and velocity of our engineers. The Cloud Reliability team at Crunchyroll aligns closely with our partners in development to help them build reliably on our platform. We are also seeking to take our standards and practices around operational excellence to the next level to further enhance the platform's benefit to our customers. You will report into our Senior Manager and this role can be fully remote.

About you
  • 8 years of experience in a program management or related role leading complex projects with numerous stakeholders and dependencies.
  • 5 years of experience creating and driving reliability focused initiatives such as incident management and retrospectives, launch readiness, operational standards, best practices and incident reduction across engineering organizations. This experience also includes teaching and mentoring others and helping teams level up.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a technical implementation role directly building or supporting services or infrastructure. Able to automate simple tasks and write scripts.
  • 3-5 years of experience creating processes and driving initiatives in an AWS cloud based environment.
  • Solid understanding of incident management practices in large scale environments including the running of blameless post mortems, operational reviews, and driving RCAs to closure.
  • Knowledgeable of SRE and GitOps concepts such as SLIs, SLOs, CI/CD, IaC, containers.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Able to effectively communicate with engineers and leaders alike.
  • Experienced with incident commanding high severity issues with business impact. Willing to participate in incident command on-call rotations.
Pluses
  • Prior experience as a Software Engineer or Site Reliability Engineer.
  • Familiar with DataDog, OpsGenie, and other related tools.
  • Experienced with driving infrastructure cost reduction programs.
A Day in the Life

As our Operational Process Engineer in Cloud Reliability you will:

  • Take ownership of our incident management and other operational processes such as launch readiness and continuously evolve them to better suit the needs of our customers and business.
  • Raise the bar on how we handle incidents and how we make sure they never happen again.
  • Be a champion of operational excellence. Provide training and other assistance to help up level engineering. Work closely with both development and platform teams in continuously making operations more scalable and self-sufficient.
  • Partner with program management in streamlining how we address operations related tasks, action items, and inter-team communication. Identify gaps in current methods and create plans on how to remediate.

The Pay Range for this position is listed. Actual pay will vary based on factors including, but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Crunchyroll’s Total Rewards offerings for employees.
