About the position:

rag & bone is hiring a Sr. Designer who is passionate about footwear construction and current market trends. The ideal candidate should have a balance of creativity, conceptual thinking, organizational skills and attention to detail. The position requires a minimum of 6 years of experience in the footwear industry. This position will collaborate closely with Product Development, Production and Merchandising teams to build out seasonal collections that meet our business needs.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with head of Footwear and Accessories to initiate concepts for each season that are reflective of the brand’s D.N.A.
  • Responsible for upholding design integrity with high quality execution throughout the entire process.  Must have general knowledge of tooling and how that impacts seasonal developments.
  • Present collection to various departments as needed with ability to clearly communicate concepts and constructions.
  • Partner with PD in understanding deadlines ensuring on time tech pack launches.
  • Create detailed sketches and CADS ensuring Design overviews are always up to date.
  • Partner with Technical Design during each stage of the process of building out lasts, constructions, trims and analyzing blueprints.
  • Attend Fit sessions ensuring protypes meet expectations of design, quality and comfort.
  • Ensure design cards are accurate to pass off to PD.
  • Tight partnering with the rag and bone creative team members to refine seasonal concepts, materials, techniques, hardware.
  • Travel overseas to factories to review prototype and SMS developments as needed.

Requirements:

  • 6 years minimum working in Footwear Design, with an understanding of luxury and contemporary markets.
  • Must have strong understanding of footwear construction and technical.
  • Must be strong in Digital and hand sketching
  • Strong organizational skills are a must. Must know how to juggle shifting priorities daily.
  • Experienced in traveling to factories
  • Strong Photoshop and Illustrator skills
  • Must have basic knowledge of MS Office Powerpoint and Excel
  • Strong material and color sense
  • Must be a team player with a positive attitude, who is able to thrive and take initiative in a fast-paced work environment.
