Payments Fraud is a central risk at OVO. If a customer cannot safely pay for their energy or decarbonisation products in a variety of ways that best suits their circumstances and personal preferences, they will look elsewhere. We are looking for ambitious, payment fraud enthusiasts to drive forward our payments area

This role in a nutshell:

As OVO's Senior Fraud Investigator you’ll lead and analyse our fraud reports and system data to identify fraudulent activity and be inquisitive to find the root cause of such activity, from both internal and external actors. Data literacy and being comfortable analysing reports and finding root causes is key. You’ll be identifying fraudulent patterns and be comfortable explaining these patterns to key stakeholders across the business of varying levels of seniority. We are looking for someone who is willing to go the extra mile and handle a fraud incident from start to finish, liaising with all areas of the business and external parties, including customers, to mitigate and prevent fraud. Managing relationship with external memberships and work with the Fraud Lead on OVOs fraud policies and compliance is crucial to this role. 

OVO is growing in the consumer lending space so previous experience handling fraud in consumer lending is key.

Your key outcomes will be:

  • Analysing our fraud dashboards, proactively identifying the fraudulent activity and any patterns you can find
  • Review and analyse alerts, contributing to Suspicious Activity Reports and escalating where vital
  • Conduct larger scale analysis over longer time periods, writing up reports for internal stakeholders and external memberships
  • Proactively search and test vulnerabilities in our customer and agent journeys to identify vulnerabilities from internal and external actors.
  • Establish links with key team members
  • Connect with the wider team and Fraud Lead on patterns and trends in fraud
  • Investigate potential fraudulent activity, supporting full investigations to identify root cause 
  • Ensure meticulous attention to detail and confidentiality when investigating cases

You’ll be a successful Senior Fraud Investigator at OVO if you are…

  • Knowledgeable and have experience within the Fraud and Payments space
  • Previous experience in the consumer lending industry, with particular focus on preventing fraud
  • Data literate and inquisitive. 
  • Approach everything with a data-first approach 
  • Comfortable investigating fraudulent transactions and carrying out fraud investigations with deep detailed eye
  • Ability to communicate and present clearly and deliver a succinct, confident message to a wide range of stakeholders 
  • Passionate about Fraud, with a desire to learn new fraud techniques and schemes
  • Knowledgeable about compliance in these areas.
  • Proactive communication and stakeholder management. Critically you know when and how to say ‘No’!

You won’t like this role if you are…

  • Uncomfortable taking ownership for your own workload
  • Unwilling to dive into the detail and take ownership for end to end fraud investigations
  • Unable to have conversations with senior collaborators about fraud trends and existing live reports
  • Not passionate about Fraud!
