At commercetools, we are:

Engaged: We didn't become the fastest growing, highest ever valued SaaS software company in digital commerce with nearly 100% year-over-year growth by sitting on the sidelines.

Inspired: We continually explore what's possible. As the founder of the headless commerce concept, the leader in true composable commerce, and the visionaries behind MACHยฎ โ€” our patented tech has radically disrupted the world of enterprise ecommerce software. And we are just getting started!

Valued: Intelligent, resilient, passionate individuals hailing from over 50 countries across the globe, speaking over 43 languages, and collectively embracing diversity, encouraging inclusion, and fostering a culture of care.

The Opportunity:

Our team is working to improve and extend the first and most important business user touchpoint, the Studio. We are here to make sure that our platform gives the best user experience possible.

  • We enhance the stack and tooling so that our customers can enjoyably create the best commerce sites on the planet. This is how our value make an impact really drives us every day.
  • We're a genuine team. When we come across challenges, we make sure that we can always rely on each other's strengths and close collaboration (we're in this together) โ€” both within the team and beyond the team. We regularly practice pair programming or co-working because working in a remote team doesn't mean not working together or working alone.
  • We're passionate learners. Technology is always evolving, and we're constantly on the lookout for new ideas that could improve the experience for our customers. Our value thirst for learning has special meaning for our team. To achieve our goals together, we have a curiosity that motivates the study, a willingness to share our knowledge, and acceptance that sometimes we fail to learn more.

Do you like to implement an amazing user experience that allows users to create incredible eCommerce sites on top of headless APIs? Do you like visually appealing but also functional frontends that make complex tasks look simple? Would you like to improve a web application based on user research and usage data together with a product team? Then this position could be perfect for you!

Your Mission:

  • Extend our existing web application based on React, Redux, and MaterialUI with new user workflows based on input from our Product team
  • Discover solutions for user challenges together with our Product team
  • Continuously enhance the technical foundation of the web application, for example, continue to migrate MaterialUI components to our own pattern library
  • Closely collaborate with your colleagues to learn and improve together

What you need to succeed:

  • Thorough knowledge of TypeScript/JavaScript, React, HTML, and (S)CSS
  • The will to help to maintain the foundation of any JavaScript/TypeScript project: library updates, JavaScript build tools (webpack and babel), and so on
  • 2+ years of experience in testing React components, domain logic with unit tests, and the most critical user paths with end-to-end tests
  • Experience in creating and maintaining style systems for larger and non-trivial web applications
  • Experience with MaterialUI  and TailwindUI and/or Redux is a plus
