Lonely Planet, a Division of Red Ventures, is looking for a talented Full Stack Engineer to join our team in Charlotte or New York.  We’re looking for experienced, professional engineers with go-anywhere, do-anything attitudes to build value for our customers and our team. Yes, you should write clean, performant, testable code in a variety of languages across our microservices. But you’ll also dive into logs and metrics with our Platform group, work closely with Product to define requirements and take responsibility for the way your code performs in the cloud.

As a key player in our team, you will orchestrate end-to-end experiences for authenticated users, from front-end user interfaces to efficient backend systems in the cloud, ensuring the delivery of top-notch technology solutions in a timely fashion. Your role extends beyond building high-quality services; you will be instrumental in fostering code standards and best practices, making sure our services are not just well-built, but also engineer-friendly.

As a member of the team, you will have the opportunity to work on mission-critical projects that will shape the core of our business. You will apply your programming skills towards building quality services and highly performant web experiences as well as mentoring other engineers. You will be part of a team that works together to explore new boundaries and test new technologies.

What You'll Do:

  • Develop, support, and maintain cloud-hosted web applications, primarily with TypeScript and Next.js.
  • Foster cross-functional collaborations with Engineering, Product, Design, and Editorial teams to ensure the delivery of quality products and services.
  • Enhance engineering competence through mentoring, code reviews, and comprehensive documentation.
  • Figure out how to best scale, secure, maintain, and extend the platform.
  • Metrics. Monitoring. Profiling. Analytics.
  • Work together with QA/Product to squash any bugs.

What We're Looking For:

  • 4+ years of experience working with Next.js, React and supporting frameworks.
  • Our backend services are developed in Golang, Elixir and Typescript. You should be comfortable with at least one of these languages
  • Experience with a CI/CD pipeline tool and how to leverage it, we use GitHub actions, but any works.
  • Experience designing and building APIs for a variety of clients.
  • Understanding of how to build and consume REST APIs.
  • Experience with serverless & event-driven architectures.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Ideal team players: hungry, humble, and smart! We value those who are curious and strive to be great people to work with
  • The ability to prioritize, strategize, execute and deliver projects on time

Compensation

  • Cash Compensation Range: $80,000-125,000* *Note actual salary is based on qualifications, and experience.
