Databricks Information Technology (IT) is a product-led organization transforming how we work from how easy it is to use our IT services to the applications we develop that help us scale in the face of incredible growth.The IT Infrastructure Team is responsible for building / providing services and infrastructure that empower our employees to be successful. As a leader, you will be responsible for building a strong practice of delivery and execution of various projects to support the growth and scale the function globally as the company continues its hyper-growth. You will be a key member of the IT leadership team to promote best practices of technical program management. You will report to the VP of IT Infrastructure.The impact you will have:

  • Build and coordinate all aspects of a program, including: detailed project plans, resource allocations, risks/issues remediation, status reporting, budget management, and serve as the primary “go-to” person for project details.
  • Maintain a deep, technical end-to-end understanding of the solution being built, its upstream/downstream dependencies and impacts, and the resulting customer journey experienced by our users.
  • Lead multiple concurrent projects and programs varying in size/scope/complexity, spanning across several different teams and organizations.Identify and mitigate risks to execution by clarifying scope, removing blockers, and ensuring efficient communication between appropriate stakeholders
  • Craft communications that can be consumed at different levels of the organization – from executive-level presentations, to materials consumed by engineering/security/Marketing/other teams.
  • Proactively identify risks in all assigned areas; work with teams and management to mitigate these risks before they become issues.
  • Develop your own well-informed point of view, and influence people at all levels: from front-line team members to VPs, SVPs, and C-level executives, communicating continuously with partners throughout the organization.
  • Understand, surface, and articulate technical challenges. Navigate the team to the option that delivers the best customer experience.
  • Continually pursue delivery excellence to ensure success, and ensure all team members clearly understand the goals, expectations, and success criteria. Uphold a culture of focus, delivery, and accountability across the organization

What we look for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering/Information Systems and a minimum of 5 years of technical program/project/relationship management experience
  • Extremely organized with outstanding attention to detail; understand the who, what, when, how and why needed to drive outstanding solutions.
  • Self-starter with extensive program management experience with large-scale initiatives. Background in PMO-best practices is a strong plus.
  • Be curious – understand and learn the business, technology, product, and processes without being asked.
  • Good understanding of cloud services, application hosting, operational practices & technical planning.
  • Able to effectively modulate the presentation of information based on your audience: everyone from a C-level executive to an Individual Contributor.
  • Experience leading broad programs across organizations in a matrixed, globally-diverse workforce.
  • Experience using Agile/Scrum methodologies in an always-on, services-based infrastructure/architecture.
  • Skilled at leading design and technical trade-off conversations to closure.
  • Experience with applications such as Jira or other backlog and project management tools.
  • Experience with project management tools such as Smartsheet or other requirements/task management tools
  • Knowledge of PMI PMP
