The Business Technology Operations team is a critical part of Appian’s strategy, delivering corporate infrastructure, software, support and services. We are seeking a skilled IT leader to join as a Senior Manager, Business Technology, balancing technical leadership and project management. This role requires maintaining functional leadership responsibilities with hands-on technical project involvement. Prior experience working with software development and cloud organizations is highly preferred.

To be successful in this role, you will:

  • Manage multiple small teams within the Business Technology Operations team in accordance with organizational policies and goals.

  • Serve as a technical leader and mentor for your team, advising on best practices and ensuring our infrastructure is brought up to industry standard.

  • Implement and maintain project management practices that support the organization’s needs.

  • Ensure computer equipment, hardware, and software is maintained to meet functional and security needs.

  • Support organizational cost efficiency with standardized products and financial auditing.

 

About You: 

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in an IT related field, or equivalent work experience; relevant advanced degree is a plus

  • 8+ years of experience in IT operations or other relevant field; previous experience at a software or technology company preferred

  • Extensive knowledge of operating systems (Unix, Mac OS, and/or Windows), virtual environments (e.g. AWS, Google Compute Engine, VMware), security concepts and technologies, telecommunications and collaboration technologies, and networking concepts (subletting, VLANs)

  • Experience implementing ITIL methodologies within an IT operation; ITIL or other relevant certification preferred

  • Demonstrated success building teams with early career hires and developing them to more senior roles

  • Attention to detail and exceptional customer service skills, with a demonstrated passion for the role and mentoring others
