The Crunchyroll Accounting Team is a global organization of over 50 professionals working together to support all of our departments and ensuring compliance with accounting standards, company policy and regulatory bodies.

About You:

In your role at Crunchyroll as a Content Accounting Senior Manager, you will be responsible for the accurate record keeping of our growing number and value of content assets and related liabilities under the applicable IFRS standards and Crunchyroll/Sony accounting policies.

Reporting to our Director of Content Accounting, you will be operating with a high degree of autonomy in leading month-end close activities such as journal entry review, reconciliation review and reporting; resolving complex accounting issues, and responding to internal and external inquiries. You will also be directing and supervising the work of the senior accountant.

The ideal Content Accounting Senior Manager will possess most of these traits –

  • 8+ years of accounting experience, including people management responsibilities
  • B.S. in Accounting with working knowledge of US GAAP and/or IFRS
  • Public accounting experience (preferred, but not required)
  • Microsoft Excel skills (Index Match, sumifs, pivot tables, etc.)
  • Leadership qualities that exemplify commitment to Crunchyroll's values and motivate excellence from your direct report(s)
  • A curiosity mindset to understand how our team supports and is supported by other teams
  • A "kaizen" attitude to improve and enhance existing processes to anticipate the needs of the future

A day in the life of our Content Accounting Senior Manager

You will be a part of the team responsible for the financial integrity of our content commitments, assets (capitalization), liabilities (payments), and expenses (amortization) and while ensuring the connectivity and consistency of our reporting among other related groups (such as the royalty reporting team (FCR) and deal management team).

The Content Accounting Senior Manager will work closely with the Content Accounting Senior to ensure the accuracy of records that are maintained in our financial ledgers (NetSuite) as they pertain to Content Accounting related accounts.

Some of the responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing monthly and quarterly close journal entries accounting for all content assets and liabilities acquired in the period
  • Reviewing monthly amortization calculations based on the appropriate methodology for each type of asset
  • Performing detailed financial statement analyses, including discussions on various issues, analysis, preparation, and review of account reconciliations
  • Collaborating with Deal Management and Business Affairs (as needed) to understand proper accounting treatment for content agreements and transactions (e.g. licensing contracts, co-production deals, etc..
  • Managing, coaching, and developing junior staff accountants
  • Partnering with the Director of Content Accounting to prioritize tasks and process improvement initiatives within the team
  • Meaningfully and proactively engaging in internal projects to help drive successful implementation
  • Serving as a subject matter expert and escalation point on content accounting matters including audits, system enhancements, and cross-functional initiatives

The Pay Range for this position is listed. Actual pay will vary based on factors including, but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Crunchyroll’s Total Rewards offerings for employees.
