Senior Manager Data Engineering & Automation
Job Description
As a Senior Manager Data Engineering & Automation, you will design and develop automation systems and deploy ML models that optimise business operations and decision-making. You will drive innovation through data and automation technologies, ensuring seamless data availability and operational efficiency across all company divisions.
This role is based in Chippendale, Sydney and reports to the Principal Manager, Data Engineering.
You will…
- Develop and implement strategies for automation tools aligned with company objectives.
- Deploy and maintain ML models
- Collaborate with business units to identify opportunities for process automation and digital tool development.
- Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines to support delivery and requirements.
- Translate complex business requirements into technical specifications for automation tools.
- Drive innovation by adopting modern frameworks, APIs, and development methodologies.
- Mentor colleagues on best practices for software development and data engineering integration.
- Monitor and enhance the performance and user experience of existing automation tools.
You have…
- A Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline (Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or related).
- An interest in the deployment of production-grade ML models
- Proven hands-on experience developing web applications using Javascript frameworks.
- Proficiency in Javascript, HTML, CSS, Python, and SQL.
- Strong experience with modern data platforms like Databricks and the AWS stack.
- Experience using Serverless architecture (AWS Lambda) and CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, Jenkins).
- Knowledge of hosting applications on Kubernetes and utilising LLMs for AI-based automation.
