Senior Manager, Fixture Design & Production

This role is remote. Heavy travel to Boston and future store locations required.

Wayfair’s Physical Retail team is seeking a Senior Manager of Fixture Design and Production  to direct a store design function that will enable the organization’s physical retail agenda. This role will be an integral part of the Visual Merchandising Team that will help develop and implement the playbook to stand up and scale stores in North America for all 5 Wayfair brands. 

The Senior Manager of Fixture Design and Procurement will work with cross-functional partners (e.g., Merchandising, Creative, Customer Experience, Store Operations) to build and execute a strategy that supports Wayfair’s expansion of physical retail - translating brand, product, and visual strategies into a cohesive, compelling, and cost effective fixture packages that support the in-store assortment. We are seeking a motivated leader who can develop our fixture program strategy for the visual merchandising department and provide thought leadership to ensure that our stores are a major contributor to the financial success of our Wayfair physical retail platform.

This role is remote with heavy travel to Boston and future store sites. reports to the Director of Visual Merchandising, Physical Retail. The Senior Manager of Fixture Design and Production has significant cross-functional responsibility and opportunity for exposure to the Physical Retail Leadership team. As the retail portfolio grows, this role will work to build out a team to manage an increasing number of assets and transactions for the Wayfair portfolio of stores.

What You’ll Do:

  • Develop and drive the fixture program for the physical retail platform across all 5 store formats for Wayfair’s brands: Wayfair, AllModern, Joss & Main, Birch Lane and Perigold.
  • Partner with Design/Build to ensure space planning requirements are met & revisions are reflected in architectural workstreams. 
  • Design and evolve fixtures for current and future formats aligning with business needs and product category performance.
  • Develop and maintain internal fixture block library and coding 
  • Create a program of fixture accessories to complement the package and ensure all product categories are housed and highlighted appropriately.
  • Design and evolve the sign holder and wayfinding package for current and future formats aligning with in-store marketing strategy and amplifying the product and presentation strategies.
  • Work with manufacturers to produce fixture programs on schedule and within budget
  • On-going assessment of vendor performance to ensure high level of service and product.
  • Drive cost efficiencies across the program and store formats, and assist in owning the budget and purchase of the fixtures
  • Source and onboard new vendors as needed
  • Longer term - assist Procurement in bulk buy planning strategy

What You’ll Need:

  • Physical retail experience required, with preferred experience in standing up a retail store program
  • 7+ years of Fixture Design and Production experience
  • Demonstrable history delivering millwork, metals, etc.
  • Experience managing overseas factories is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud Software, G Suite, CAD, Revvit, Sketch-up, Rhino
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks is a plus
  • Strong business management skills; demonstrated ability to lead important strategic initiatives and multitask
  • Proven team management and leadership skills; can inspire and motivate teams to bring future state vision to life
  • Able to collaborate across all levels of the organization to achieve objectives
  • Adaptability to organizational changes and complex structures
  • High degree of integrity and confidence in one’s abilities as a business leader
  • Evidence of “scrappy startup execution” and a “get it done” attitude when time is tight and stakes are high
