Appian is seeking a Senior Manager, Information Security to join our Security Infrastructure Engineering team. In this role, you’ll manage a team that is responsible for building the infrastructure and tools to manage and deploy our security and corporate infrastructure with modern, declarative techniques while ensuring that permissions are tightly managed in both the deployment and production corporate infrastructure. You’ll have the opportunity to build much of this infrastructure from the ground up, paired with the challenge of not disrupting existing services as you migrate them into a fully managed, monitored and reproducible deployment model.
About you:
You have 3 or more years of experience managing Security, Software, Infrastructure and/or DevOps Engineers with varying levels of experience, including both technical and people leadership.
You have 8 or more years of experience as a security or infrastructure engineer working in on-premise and cloud (AWS, GCP, Azure) environments.
Balancing the desire to create automated, repeatable deployments with the need to securely manage and deploy infrastructure is second nature to you.
You are equally comfortable working with security, infrastructure and development teams.
You are passionate about using automation to simultaneously improve security and make scalable deployment easier.
Responsibilities
Lead the team responsible for designing and implementing secure deployment and infrastructure management systems within our Corporate and Information Security environments. This includes SCM, CI/CD, deployment pipelines, and other tooling and automation systems.
As the manager of the team, you will provide direct coaching, mentoring and day-to-day management of the individuals on your team, as well as helping them build effective relationships across the organization .
Delight your stakeholders (Security and Infrastructure teams) by ensuring your team builds tools and systems that solve their problems without introducing unwarranted complexity or friction.
Provide visibility to stakeholder teams on their security posture using IAC security scanning, and provide them tools to improve the security of their deployments.
Own the feature roadmap for your team, and effectively prioritize meaningful risk reduction
Foster a culture of service ownership within your team and across the broader Information Security team.
Partner with other infrastructure and security teams to ensure appropriate re-use of tools and techniques for managing and securing infrastructure
Preferred Experience
Experience managing physical and cloud network, compute and security infrastructure
Software development experience using interpreted languages (Python, Shell, Perl, etc)
Experience managing CI/CD systems integrated with GitLab/GitHub
