Where you’ll work:

At OVO, we understand that a one size fits all approach doesn’t work for everyone. That’s why we created the OVO Way of Flexibility.

All our roles are hub based (Bristol, Glasgow or London), providing a dedicated space for collaboration, connection and teamwork. You’ll also have the flexibility to work from home.

Everyone belongs at OVO

At OVO, we are on a mission to solve one of humanity's biggest challenges, the climate crisis. And we know it takes all of us to change the world. That's why we need diverse people from all gender identities, ethnicities, ages, sexual orientations, life experiences and backgrounds to join us.

Teamworking for the planet

Everything we do here spins around Plan Zero. So, naturally, the team you’ll be joining plays a gigantic role in making that happen. Here’s how:

The UX team are the DNA that exists to connect our customers, business and brand. We play a pivotal role in helping and supporting our customers on our Zero Carbon journey by crafting experiences that power the movement today and lead the path to the future.

This role in a nutshell:

We are seeking a Senior Product Designer to join our UX team. You’lll be responsible for designing customer experiences that empower customers to take control of their home energy and reduce their carbon footprint.

Your key outcomes will be:

  • Define the vision for new product features across our mobile ecosystem, while continually enhancing and refining existing experiences.
  • Elevate and maintain visual consistency across all customer touchpoints.
  • Contribute to the evolution of OVO’s design system by developing new UI patterns, components, and interaction paradigms.
  • Leverage native mobile platforms by applying Apple’s HIG and Google’s Material Design guidelines, balancing brand identity with usability.
  • Collaborate with fellow designers to lead workshops and design sprints.
  • Partner with content designers to create high-quality, engaging user experiences.
  • Prototype and collaborate with UX Research to develop and validate user experiences through testing.
  • Work closely with Product Managers to define problems, scope, and hypotheses.
  • Partner with Engineers to ensure your designs are implemented with pixel-perfect precision.
  • Utilise a range of tools for sketching, collaboration, prototyping, and design communication. We love Figma and Miro, but we’re equally fond of pen and paper.
  • Embrace an agile and lean approach to software development, shipping quickly and frequently, using A/B testing and data to inform and validate your design decisions.

You’ll be a successful Senior Product Designer here at OVO if you are…

  • Experienced in designing for mobile apps, with a strong portfolio showcasing your interaction and visual design expertise.
  • A product thinker who is deeply invested in understanding why you’re designing something and its impact on both the customer and the business.
  • Detail-oriented, while maintaining a broad perspective on how everything interconnects. You consider all scenarios, not just the happy path.
  • A strong communicator who can clearly articulate and justify your design decisions in a concise and engaging manner.
  • Self-aware, with a growth mindset, and open to feedback and continuous learning.
  • Fluent in mobile best practices, knowing when to leverage existing patterns versus creating custom solutions. And importantly, you recognise that chips, toasts, and snack bars are more than just tasty treats!

You won’t like this role if you…

  • Are uncomfortable with ambiguity, change, and managing conflicting priorities.
  • Don't relish engaging in the entire end-to-end UX practice.
  • Don't possess an affinity for visual and interaction design.
  • Prefer working in isolation rather than collaborating with cross-functional teams.
