Your mission:

Your mission is to design, build and run a risk mitigation program for restricted activities out of Wise’s risk appetite. You will have to figure out an effective strategy that delivers effective risk mitigation controls, processes & tooling for restricted activities. Your goal is to minimise inconvenience to our customers while effectively detecting and mitigating potential risks.

Restricted activities simply are Wise products being used for purposes that carry increased risk of negative outcomes for Wise from a financial, reputational & FinCrime perspective. A few examples of this would be adult content, gambling & weapons. You can find out more about all these activities from Wise’s acceptable use policy. You will work on risk mitigation strategies that make some of these restricted activities acceptable to Wise and expand Wise’s risk appetite.

As an integral part of our Financial Crime risk mitigation strategy, this team plays a pivotal role in enabling Wise's continued growth. By managing risks associated with new activities and offerings, you contribute to expanding our reach while maintaining control and compliance. Your products will provide crucial support to large operational teams, effectively mitigating financial crime risks with minimal impact on the overall customer experience.

This role offers a unique opportunity to have a significant impact on Wise’s mission, pushing the limits of how we mitigate financial crime risks and monitor restricted activities.

Here’s how you’ll be contributing to the FinCrime Squad:

  • You’ll work closely with operational teams to figure out together how to support a growing domain, streamlining, optimising and automating processes;
  • You’ll work closely with other product teams in launching new products and unifying processes, participating or driving cross-team initiatives.

This role will give you the opportunity to:

  • Choose your path to impact – you’ll have the freedom to collaboratively define the vision and the responsibility for making it happen
  • Be flexible in how and where you work, we understand everyone needs a little something different so we’ll do our best to make it happen
  • Travel to work with our teams in Tallinn, Budapest and London, as well as meet various partners and organisations when needed

  • Inspire teams with your ideas, knowledge and self-starting attitude
  • Grow as a leader – Grow and inspire your team to join our mission;
  • Be part of our mission to make money without borders the new normal.

A bit about you:
