The Product Management, Developer Experience Team

Our Developer Experience team’s mission is to deliver delightful experiences for our customers. The Developer Experience  team is accountable for the end to end developer journey, managing strategy and execution for all product interfaces from docs and quickstarts, developer tools, dashboard, and the developer ecosystem.  

The Senior Product Manager Opportunity

This role reports to the product leader for the Developer Experience domain and will be very impactful to delivering developer joy & success. This role will define Content Strategy for Okta’s Customer Identity product line, collaborating closely with our Product Experience, Docs, and Developer Relations teams. We are seeking a Senior Product Manager - Content Strategy to join our team at Okta’s Customer Identity Cloud (CIC). In this role, you will collaborate closely with our Docs, Developer Relations, and Marketing teams to develop and implement a content strategy that enhances the structure and functionality of our documentation site. This role will be instrumental in defining and executing  the strategy to use content as a method to empower customers and increase product adoption. Your primary focus will be on ensuring an exceptional developer experience for our customers through clear, accessible, and well-organized content. As a Senior Product Manager at Okta, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of our product documentation, directly impacting how developers interact with and implement our identity solutions.

What you’ll be doing

  • Help shape Content & Messaging platform strategy and North Star vision for Docs and Developer focused communication and events
  • Translate the messaging strategy into a product roadmap that balances the near-term needs of our developers and prioritizes what is most impactful over the long term for customers and the business
  • Influence a cross-functional team across design, engineering, and data science to deliver outstanding product solutions to enable developer success
  • Develop and deploy engagement tactics, such as personalization, gamification, nudges and rewards to enhance user interactions 
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive content strategy for Okta’s CIC Product Unit documentation site
  • Define when and how a user experiences content throughout their customer journey
  • Collaborate with the Marketing, DevRel, and Docs team to optimize content structure, navigation, and searchability
  • Ensure that the content strategy is executed, measured, optimized, and maintained
  • Conduct user research to understand developer needs and pain points related to product documentation
  • Create and maintain content roadmaps that align with product releases and customer needs
  • Work closely with engineering, design, and marketing teams to ensure documentation accuracy and relevance 
  • Lead initiatives to enhance the overall developer experience through innovative content solutions
  • Gather and prioritize feedback from customers, internal teams, and stakeholders to inform documentation improvements
  • Ensure documentation meets Okta's high standards for security, compliance, and brand consistency

What you’ll bring to the role

  • 5+ years of experience in product management, with a focus on developer-facing content or documentation
  • Strong understanding and experience in creating or managing API documentation, developer tools, and technical writing principles
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly and  distilling complex technical topics into clear, compelling stories for your audience 
  • Experience with content management systems and documentation tools
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies and project management tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence)
  • Basic understanding of web technologies and programming concepts
  • Ability to analyze data and derive insights to inform content strategy decisions
  • Proficient in using data and qualitative insights to prioritize high-impact areas and measure success

And extra credit if you have experience in any of the following! 

  • Experience working with identity and access management (IAM) solutions or related technologies
  • Knowledge of Okta’s products and services
  • Familiarity with markdown, HTML, and other documentation formats
  • Experience with developer experience (DX) optimization
  • Background in UX writing or information architecture
  • Past experience in full stack development 
  • Proficiency in using analytics tools to measure content performance
  • Experience with localization and internationalization of technical content
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders

Below is the annual salary range for candidates located in Canada. Your actual salary will depend on factors such as your skills, qualifications, and experience. In addition, Okta offers equity (where applicable), bonus, and benefits, including health, dental, and vision insurance, RRSP with a match, healthcare spending, telemedicine, and paid leave (including PTO and parental leave) in accordance with our applicable plans and policies. The annual base salary range for this position for candidates located in Canada is between:$135,000—$203,000 USD
