Our Opportunity:   

We are looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager – Construction, with a focus on retail buildings/projects, to join our team for an exciting opportunity to manage various capital improvement projects across our Chewy Vet Care vertical.  You will be an organized, detail oriented, and enthusiastic Project Manager who is willing to do whatever it takes to achieve an on time, on budget project, while delivering the highest level of customer service to our entire team. You will report to Senior Project Manager – Construction under the direction of VP of Real Estate, Construction and Facilities. 

What you’ll do:

  • Manage the construction of various capital improvement projects within a Retail Center.
  • Oversee all planning and construction; manage due diligence, architectural and engineering planning, permitting and construction; Interface with landlords, property managers, and cross functional teams.
  • Develop, monitor, and communicate project budgets and schedules.
  • Ensure construction and contracted work is completed on time and within budget.
  • Manage vendor/contractor relationships to ensure quality of deliverables.
  • Manage project bidding process, qualify, and quantify all contractors/vendors.
  • Prepare and manage the project schedule.
  • Review project plans and specifications and comment on the project design, scheduling, possible cost savings measures and potential construction problems.
  • Collaborate and effectively communicate with real estate, design, and internal stakeholders as well as effectively manage and direct the GC and trades.
  • Interface with the architect, and expedite all drawings, floor plans, and submittals for approvals.
  • Lead weekly meetings with internal and external stakeholders for relevant project updates.
  • Proficient in all building systems including mechanical, electrical, fire/life, safety, and plumbing.

What you’ll need: 

  • 5+ years retail construction/project management experience.
  • Microsoft Office Suite skill set (Excel/Word) a requirement
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings.
  • Ability to travel 60+% of the time.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.

What you’ll have:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Strong analytical skills.
  • Skilled at creating and following-through on customized action plans.
  • Experience with build-to-suit construction.
  • Working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, HVAC systems, as well as conveyance, PIT equipment, sorter, and auto store systems.
  • Relevant experience in commercial contracts, vendor selection, and experience managing large capital projects, as well as service level agreements within budget.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively at all levels within the company and with Architects, Engineers, Contractors, and Property Managers.
  • Exceptional customer service focus with a strong ability to creatively solve unique problems.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced, growing environment.
  • Excellent planning and decision-making ability.

Location is flexible:

  • Hubs: Bellevue, WA | Minneapolis, MN | Boston, MA | Plantation, FL
  • Remote (more than 90-miles outside Hub) 

Compensation & Benefits: 

Our salary range for a Senior Category Manager position is $129,500.00 - $207,000.00. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate’s relevant experience, education, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for 401k and a new hire and annual equity grant.

Non-exempt hourly team members accrue paid time off (PTO) while salaried-exempt team members have unlimited PTO, subject to manager approval. Non-exempt hourly team members in Fulfillment Centers and Customer Service are also eligible for additional unplanned unpaid time off (UTO). Team members will receive six paid holidays per year. Team members may be eligible for paid sick and family leave in compliance with applicable state and local regulations.
