Toast is building out a New Ventures business unit with the goal of researching, developing, and scaling a new generation of products and business lines that can have a substantial impact on Toast’s long-term growth. As we get ready to make these new products available to all our customers we are looking to hire a Senior QA Engineer to lead the testing and QA effort on our team.

About this roll* (Responsibilities) 

As a Senior QA Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our products amidst a fast-paced, dynamic start-up like environment. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teammates to understand requirements, identify test scenarios, and implement robust testing strategies that align with our development goals.

  • Develop and execute comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scripts to validate the functionality, performance, and usability of our products.
  • Conduct thorough regression testing to detect and prevent regressions across multiple software releases and iterations.
  • Collaborate with product managers, software engineers, and other business stakeholders to clarify requirements, define acceptance criteria, and mitigate ambiguities in feature scope.
  • Implement and maintain automated testing frameworks and tools to streamline the testing process and improve efficiency.
  • Identify, document, and track software defects using Jira & Coda, and work closely with engineering teams to swiftly resolve issues  and deploy fixes.
  • Participate in design reviews and sprint planning meetings to provide input on testability, scalability, and performance considerations. We follow a 15 day sprint cadence and aim to ship new features every 15 days!
  • Help build a culture of good testing practices and improved final product quality.

Do you have the right ingredients*? (Requirements)

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. 
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in software quality assurance, with a focus on regression testing and test automation.
  • Proven track record of working in fast-paced, agile environments where requirements evolve rapidly, and ambiguity is inherent.
  • Strong proficiency in test automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Appium, Cypress) and scripting languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript).
  • Extensive experience with bug tracking systems (e.g., Jira, Bugzilla) and GitHub.
  • Solid understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) methodologies, including Agile/Scrum.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated team player with a passion for quality, continuous improvement, and delivering exceptional user experiences.

The base salary range for this role is listed below. The starting salary will be determined based on skills and experience. In addition to base salary, our total rewards components include cash compensation (overtime, bonus/commissions if eligible), equity, and benefits.Pay Range$68,000—$109,000 CAD
