The Role
We are looking for a Senior Risk Manager to join our Second Line Risk and Compliance Function in Europe. The role holder will be accountable for the development, implementation and ongoing enhancement of risk management policies, processes and frameworks. There will be a specific focus on the European business, but a key success factor will be to work across the Group co-ordinating and aligning with the UK business to drive consistency and share best practices across the organisation. The role will work across all risk types relevant to an EMI/Payments business including operational, information/IT security, prudential, financial crime, safeguarding and operational resilience.
Modulr has a strong team with extensive experience in payments, so you will have a chance to learn from some experts with a real passion for developing the business.
Specific duties
- Drive the strategy to develop our European and support Group wide risk management strategy, ensuring they are underpinned with appropriate policies, frameworks and processes.
- Oversee and manage the day-to-day operation of our risk management processes, providing guidance and support across the business, and identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Ensure there is effective analysis of internal and external data and intelligence, reporting into relevant governance structures and models to inform risk assessments, developing insight into trends and themes and recommendations for corrective actions.
- Maintain and enhance the mechanisms to record, assess and track risk issues across the business.
- Champion a strong risk culture, influencing people across the business to ensure risk management and resilience by design including the design, development and delivery of training.
- Provide high quality, informative and timely management information.
- Contribute to the wider Second Line Risk and Compliance and business strategy – maintaining expertise on risk management practices in our sector, and a strong understanding of how external risk factors will or may influence our business.
About you:
The Ideal Candidate
- You will need to have worked in a similar role within a fast-paced financial institution or consultancy environment and be familiar with the role of risk management in a regulatory context for at least 5 years.
- It would be great if you have exposure to Payments and FinTech but not essential.
- Great engagement and influencing skills, recognising the importance of developing strong relationships with stakeholders to achieve results and having the confidence to challenge more senior members of staff in an appropriate way.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to deliver clear and concise messages.
- Structured and organised, and able to handle a fast-paced environment and competing priorities.
