About the opportunity

We’re looking for a well-rounded Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to work closely with research & development teams and operate and improve our infrastructure.

What you would be working on

All of our environments are running in the cloud and our task is to make them scalable, available and secure. We are true believers in automation and build solutions that minimise manual configuration and operational burden.

As a company we value small, working pieces over a “work in progress”. Having the possibility to constantly push improvements to our service is really important for us and our team has even built our own deployment system that makes deployments fun again.

You will have the freedom to innovate and the independence to make impactful decisions. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring the reliability, performance, and scalability of our services:

• Hundreds of thousands of request per minute
• Over a million concurrent visitors
• Tens of terabytes of data

Due to the seasonality in ecommerce we have thrilling amounts of traffic during the shopping season. You will participate in ongoing work to ensure we can keep up with the traffic with lightning fast response times. 

You will also be working together with other Engineering teams to design, build and maintain our core databases and data storages that allow Nosto to scale to support millions of concurrent visitors. With a lot of data and a rapidly growing customer base we need to be smart with the technologies we use and sometimes challenge the earlier routes we've taken. 

What we expect

There's a lot of different technologies we use at Nosto and we're not expecting you to master all of them. Talent and the right attitude will definitely take you a long way. We also believe you would bring something new to the team with you. Here's some traits we're expecting you to have: 

• Proven experience (7+ years) as an SRE/DevOps Engineer or in similar developer role
• Proficiency with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and container orchestration tools
• Good understanding of Linux systems administration, networking and security best practices
• Strong scripting and automation skills (Python, Bash, Go etc.)
• Good communication and collaboration skills, with a commitment to mentoring and knowledge sharing
• A pragmatic approach to solving problems and ensuring solutions are effective & efficient

What we appreciate

Something we appreciate and will be valuable on your journey at Nosto

• Familiarity working with IaC tools like Terraform and CloudFormation
• Involvement in working with different non-relational databases (Elasticsearch, Cassandra, MongoDB, Redis etc.)
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools
• Familiarity with building deb or rpm packages
• A mindset geared towards continuous improvement
